Pardon my ignorance, but does a controller require internet access and/or some sort of computer attached?

I don't have Wi-Fi at my office, so I'd have to either borrow wifi from the business next door or install it myself.

It seems like it wouldn't be as valuable a tool if I wasn't able to utilize the cloud tools.

It does not, but having internet access allows you to control and monitor your system from anywhere as well as send alarms when anything goes wrong. As I do not have a wireless adapter with mine I have it hard wired directly into my home network.

PM1 is PH, Salinity is the PM2. But yes, in its out of the box state the Apex classic does not support salinity readings. You need to have a PM2 for that.

ok lemme know if you eventually decide to part out. I would be interested in the PM2 salinity probe combo. I assume your Solid Surface leak detection probe is the older style plug vs the newer headphone style jacks?

Will do. I am anticipating having to part it out as it will be difficult to find someone willing to drop that much cash. I know its alot, but its also alot of components. I figure to give it a week or so and see what happens.

Yes, the ALD sensor is the RJ11 (phone) style jack and not the headphone style. I have a solid surface probe in the new style but that is connected to my FMMs right now.
