I have just installed a LED retro fit for my 29 bio from rapidled.com I also got the Apex Jr and VDM controller and I have no idea what Im doing :) Ive gotten to the point that I am going into the web interface and manually turning the lights on and off but I want to simulate sun up and sun down and I would also like to simulate cloud cover during different periods of the day. Also the dimmabel drivers get pretty hot, is this normal as well?

I'm definitely not an LED expert, but looking at the rapidled site, it appears the you can get the dimmable ones with either 0-10V control, or PWM. The 0-10V option, I believe, is the only one supported by the Apex. Did you get the correct one?

Assuming you got the 0-10V option, you're going to need to hook up the dimmer control aspect of the driver to the variable speed ports of the VDM. Looks like rapidled sells Apex-to-driver cable sets.

There are a lot of good Apex LED programming examples posted around here. You will need to create virtual as well as physical outlets and profiles. Once you look at the programming a few times, you will get the hang of it. My code for my DIY LED program is on reeftronics here - http://www.reeftronics.net/bepece/apex-program. Feel free to PM with any questions.
