Apex or Reefkeeper opinions?

Sounds good Zach. I am upgrading to the Droid in the next week or two, so that is why I was curious. I will let you know when I get it ordered and you can show me the ropes.

Thanks

Good luck with the Droid. I tried the Android OS and did not like it. The Droid Eris had bad battery life too, less then 12 hours with 45 minutes of talk time for me. I think the Motorola Droid is better but I'm still a blackberry guy myself

This is a web app that is not phone specific.

Superior Technology? Can you control or reprogram your ReefKeeper remotely? Upgrade it remotely? Superior hardware is nothing without having proper usability. Maybe if they started working on software upgrades for the ReefKeeper and worry less about the HerpKeeper they would be somewhere. :)

A UI is not technology. It is user ability, and I don't really care about web control. If you set your controller up properly to begin with and with the proper alarms then you don't need web control.

Remote upgrade is about as ridiculous as it comes...gee, upgrade remote, have an issue, and your dead until you get home...that is not a feature that is worthwhile imo and a risk I won't take.

Yes, DA's technology is superior..The electronics are definitely better, especially in the power area and that to me is most important.

Now I did not begrudge you your opinion and every time you have to have words with me and others about it. It gets old....they both have their advantages, and you made your choice and I made mine...now I see your smiley but honestly it is not coming across to me as friendly banter anymore.

+2 I was not so impressed with the Droid either... I like my Storm (heard the storm 2 kinda sucks), and like the iphone (hate ATT). I might buy an ipad just for fun, but still debating.

You've been a constant advertisement for DA - that gets old as well. But you have the right to say what you wish, as do I. You convinced half the club to buy a RKE / RKL. Now I'm just trying getting the word out for Neptune, considering DA hasn't really come through with half their promises from what I can tell. Nothing personal whatsoever dude. I'm just trying to tell people about the other side of the controller world.

When I say remote upgrade, I mean while you are at your house, on your network, not in another state. I don't have to crawl under my stand or connect my computer to the controller to flash everything via USB. I sit on my couch and do it over the network.

A single sentence is not an advertisement Zach. That's what I posted here. Reap what you sow, so to speak :) Salute...on with the show.

Aaaaannnnnny way gentlemen :D, I weighed the pro's and con's and the DROID is better than the eris. That is why I have waited this long to get one. I cannot stand the blackberry. The storm is nice, but I have never liked any of the others. I figured that it was not a phone specific app, but thought I would ask anyway. I am with you on the iPhone Andy. I like it, but not AT&T's service.

I'm suspecting around the Holidays we'll have a CDMA iPhone... IE, on Verizon. ;)

Maybe not... but things have been developing rather interestingly lately... and Apple has started manufacturing CDMA iPhones, so I believe it may come... if we're lucky, maybe this summer. Thankfully I'm up for a new phone this month... gonna save it until we see with RIM and Apple announce.

Anyway, yeah I like reef controllers. :D

I heard something about the proprietary contract for the iPhone is about to be up with AT&T, but had no idea of the integrity of that information. That would be nice to have an iPhone with Verizon.

Reef controllers suck, they make things too easy. Except for the Spider Monkey Controller. That one is a B**** to program. :D

Buzz around the industry (I work for a company heavily involved in the cell business) is it is leaning to Sprint..now this is just rumor..so hopefull I am wrong since I am on Verizon...only time will tell.

the next version of the iphone will be CDMA though as Brandon stated.

Interesting, Andy. I would be surprised if Verizon didn't get it. We'll see, though. Even if it did come to Verizon, I'm not 100% sure that I'd get one. Storm 3 should be announced soon, too, possibly at the end of this month at WES. :)

Well I certainly hope the Storm3 is better than the storm 2 was. Every persob I know who had a storm 1 replaced with a storm 2 complained about it.

Yep. I thought about getting a Storm 2, but Zach and another guy in our office have quite a few issues with the screen not responding.

Sorry about the complete hijack, Anthony! :D

I hate my storm 2. It sucks nads. The screen is horrible, I try to type "on" and I get "in," (etc, etc) ..I try to click space and magically I get the symbol screen, etc. I never had such problems with the storm 1. The screen is already showing issues, as well, the crappy implementation of the piezoelectric button caused my screen to stop depressing completely on one segment for a short period of time until I battery pulled. Then I absolutely love how the bottom buttons which used to be physical got replaced too. I have to mash about 20 times on occasion to get them to work as they disable. I can't wait to get rid of this POS.

Sorry Anthony, carry on.

LOL no please carry on. I am getting the mental image of Zach sitting at La Hacienda a few months back when he was beating the mess out of his screen trying to get it to work like he has turrets (not that a mental disability is funny). Thanks for the phone news updates too by the way. :)

Zach, don't sugar coat it man, let us know what you think.
