apex ph and temp probe calibration

bullitr

broke but happy
my ph read 7.77 via apex 8.0 via milwaukee and 8.0 via saltwater test kit
calibrated twice a month ago.tank lots ready good
temp 78.9 via apex 73.7 via JBJ artica 74.average via 2 thermometer.
also amp reading on my apex for my skimmer pump 6.0 amps kill-a- watt 190 watts.
please help!

If the PH probe calibrates I would trust the PH probe in the Apex. Be sure to make a final test after calibration is complete by placing the probe back in each solution to 'verify' the calibration. Test kits for PH are notorious for reading high so I wouldn't give them any thought.

Temp probe; Again, I would tend to trust the Apex as it is calibrated with a NIST standard and calibration is possible but difficult as you need an accurate NIST source or you will be calibrating to an unknown. Good thing with temp though is that stability is more important than the actual temp with few exceptions.

EB8; it sounds like 1 of 2 issues; either you are running old firmware (you need to update the Apex AND the EB8) or your EB8 needs to have its zero-reference set (Neptune support can walk you through this; it is very simple). You can verify the firmware on the Modules screen (web of keypad display). If the EB8 reports OK, then you are OK but if it says OLD then you should select the module and update it.

re: temp probe
its 45 -55 degrees @ noc where i live and skimmer and most equipment are outside my temp have never go down to 77 i do not run a heater also, all of the pumps are external .
i don't know what to believe.
RE: 2 EB8
i have both send to neptune to get the firmware update and curt walk me through everything but still the octopus pumps reads a lot higher than the kill- a watt would.

Are your EB8s up to date wrt firmware in the EB8 (see Modules screen)?

I had the same issue with my lights until the last firmware (the one before the beta).

Im having the same problem. My Apex ph probe is out of wack and when I try and calibrate it it gives me higher readings. 4.01 test (apex reading 4.45)

Again; if the probe calibrates (and after calibrating the probe placed back into the calibration solution reads correctly) then I would trust the reading from the probe. if that calibration solution is bad then it is possible the readings would be bad but otherwise a calibrated probe will be much more accurate than any test kit.
