Apex question

im looking into purchasing an Apex unit for my tank but my issue is this my sump, pumps, heaters, fuge, skimmer etc are all in my basement. The only thing upstairs on my DT are the LED lights and 2 vortechs. Id like to mount the control panel onto the stand of the DT, Id like to have all of the probes in the basement as well. Is it possible to control all of the basement equipment from the control panel mounted on the DT stand? If so how would i go about doing it?

Well, the monitor connects to the Apex base unit via standard USB cable. You can get a simple USB extender (all electronic stores have them) and connect it that way. If you want to connect the lights and Vortechs to it, you can mount one of the Energy Bars near the DT and, again, run a USB extender from it down to the basement and connect them to the base unit.

Probe connections can vary, single pin, coax, to name two of which I am aware. Since the Display module connects to the Apex main unit via USB, a possible solution might be to get a USB extension cable and run it from your Display Module to your Apex unit in the basement. Just make sure that the USB extension cable does not incorporate a repeater or signal booster.

To control your tank, you can simply connect from any computer via the Apex net connection.

you would need two eb8's , one at your tank with a usb extension to the other one in your basement. The main unit would be in the basement with your sump so you could use it for your probes. and other test/monitor.

Thanks guys I saw that the Apex used a USB looking adapter I just wasn't sure if it was def USB or a plug system that looked like it. So realistically I could have te IT guy at my job make me a 100' USB cable, put an energy bar in the basement for the return pump, skimmer pump, heaters etc and than put the base unit downstairs and plug the temp, ph probes into it. Does that sound correct?

Also would I need to purchase the VDM to dim and control my kessil A360we? And what about controlling my mp40w's?

Do you have the full Apex if so you can control 4 devices using the vdm ports. Are you sure you don't mean mp40wes?

I'm looking at the normal Apex and I think I have the mp40w they're like 4 years old.
