So who here is using one, what are some of the things you control with it?

I have the reefkeeper lite plus, I have it controlling a heater, fan, 3 BRS 1.1ML dosers, 1 air pump for my nano micro bubbles, and my skimmer. I can't imagine not having it the best money I have spent on reefing equipment. I probably would have gone with the apex if money wasn't an issue. I would recommend the reefkeeper to anyone.

I picked up an RKL from BRS when it was being discontinued. I really don't think I'm using it to control anything. My lights have a timer, Chiller has a temp controller, I have a set of dosing pumps. Mine will be used mainly for monitoring temp, ph and salinity. I may use it for my ATO, but may not. Haven't fully decided yet.

I had a reefkeeper before, to me was just a pain to access remotely but other then that worked great.

I have never tried to to hook it up to a network always used the control panel. I would like to be able to get alerts, but read they are tough to get working. Supposedly the have out a new version of the SL1 (i think that is the unit off the top of my head) that is easier to set up.

following thread - thinking about using some type of controller myself- but have been seeing a few negatives on the new Apex. I have some concerns about the old apex getting any support after a while. A few new ones coming out soon by Vertex and by Fish something.

I use my Apex to control everything lol. Stand lights, skimmer, return, Vortech's, calcium reactor, co2, lights, etc. Also use it to control my frag tank, I ran a 25' aqua bus cable from the brain to where the frag tank is in the room. Here is a pic of the apex and stuff for just the 180. I still have to mount the other mp10 driver from the opposite side of the tank but I might be upgrading it in the near future. So I might not have to extend those wires. I'd post a pic of the frag systems stuff but it'd a mess right now lol.

As for not having support for the classic apex, I wouldn't worry about that. They will continue support for that since it's so closely engineered to the new one. Everything is backwards compatable with the exception of the new eb832.

Sure is Purdy!

I guess it beats the extension cords run across my living room floor and turning my lights on and off based on when I get up and go to sleep. :uhoh3:

I run the classic Apex. Got just the head unit and Ph/Temp probes for almost nothing awhile back. Use it mostly for sensors/notifications, such as 2 part containers empty, skimmer shut down, ATO container empty, etc.
But I personally find ApexFusion indispensable for logging/reviewing test results, scheduling maintenance, etc. Once they actually implement Apex doser automatic adjustment based on test results in Fusion, I will pick up the DOS module.

I have the classic, run everything with it even set up switches, I can change light colors if someone comes over and wants to see color pop or just shut down certain things for maintenance, even have an eb8 at mixing station so it's a one person job to pump water to tank. Looking at making some diy breakout boxes up that someone else designed I just need to order parts to put together. Also have the WAV kit which I love moves water like crazy and can set different modes for different times of day

I am using an Apex on my tank and love it. I use it to control my heaters, top of water level, sump water level, fuge light and feedings. I also have door alarms hooked up to the stand and canopy to turn on led lights if any of the doors are opened.

For all of you apex guys. there are a bunch of EB4's and EB8's in the used equipment forums. $50 and $75 each with discount for multiples.

Yeah the classic but not the aqua controller old style, also the new one too and it's hard find used ones under 100
