Hi, I just treated my QT with Cupramine. I "believe" I put the recommended dosage based on the instructions.
However, I tested it with the API Cooper Test Kit and it seems to between the 0.25 and 0.50 test range.
The QT is a 20 gallon long tank. Its not filled all the way to the top, but almost there. I added Cupramine based on a calculation of how many gallons are in the tank from the basice formula (LxWxD)/231. This gives me approximately 16 gallons of water. Based on the math of 16 drops per 10.5 gallon; this gives you approximately 0.65 drop per gallon. Obviously I can't put in 0.65 drop, so I divided my 16 gallons by 0.65 and this came out to be approximately 23.98 or 24 drops. I added this amount two days ago and then today added another 24 drops.
My question after all that is; should i keep adding drops to the QT until the color of the test kit match that of the API Test Card. It is pretty close, but dont know what I should do.
How important is it to be at 0.5 or can I go a little over? It seems the dosage is correct.
Has anyone used the API Cooper Test Kit? If so, is the reading exact?
Thanks.
