Api test kit got me confuse

I'm using a API nitrate test kit.
im confuse because I'm seeing 2 different colors.


1 is holding the tube on top of the result paper
And other picture is slightly apart.
Which one is the correct way of reading this test result ???

Try to read it without shadows on the referencing color on the paper and the liquid color in the tube. I think your No3‾ is around 10 ppm.

If you put the tube against the reference card, then hold it up so the light does directly through the tube (front of the tube, through to the back of the tube and onto the card) and you should get very close to what you have when you hold the tube sligthly away from the card.

When I have a serious reading I really want to get right, I go out into the sunlight to read it.
