Unfortunately lost this colony to the encroaching kedd reds overnight. Not even a chance to frag it.

ReefCentral was seriously acting up so please ignore the double post, or mod's delete it. Sorry about that.

Here's the remainder of the photos

Do you have any details on this??? Lighting, filtration, reactors, skimmers, etc??

The tank is mostly stock. I don't run a skimmer on it, but have a hydor slim skim waiting at work for when I find some extra money to buy it. I just run Matrix Carbon in the filter. Phoenix 14k 150w for light. Nothing special. I dose the Aquavitro line as recommended.

Right now I'm battling low KH thanks to the Coralife Scientific salt that we switched to at work. Our reef tanks are low too, but I caught it in my tank before our entire system at work got as low as mine did. It was at 3 :eek1: It's up to 7 now. Needless to say that salt will not be used any longer.

I'm going to order some PAR38 bulbs from Rapid LED for my other tank and now I'm considering buying more for this tank. Any thoughts on that? I'm thinking 3 of them would do the job.

Ah man.
Do you know how? That wrasse was awesome. Was he eating? Thank god my leopard eats everything I throw in the tank. I also throw in a pouch of tisbe reefpods every few weeks.

Yep, he was eating really well and ate everything I gave him. But he was also on his own schedule, so days that I was working I would often not see him and he would not get fed. I had him in quarantine for almost a month before introducing him where I got him really fat. In the past week he got skinny very quickly. I'm assuming parasites and it happened too quickly for me to treat. This sucks. I had a regular leopard for years who one day decided not to come out of the sand and this was his replacement. I guess I'll try again and I'll be sure to deworm too. Has anyone tried Dr. G's medicated foods?

Just an awesome tank! Sorry about your wrasse.... totally sucks. Check out my Solana build... its a slow work in progress but its coming along!

I had a potters leopard wrasse for a few years and then he wanted to try living outside the tank. Its very sad when you lose on of your favorite fish.

What are you going to replace him with?

THey have great personalities? How was he towards your firefish? When I added my leopard wrasse my firefish stopped coming out becauase he would chase him.

I'm not planning on replacing him any time soon. I'm having a cyano outbreak on the sandbed that I want to fix first. He never bothered any fish- he seemed completely oblivious to their existance.

Here's the new coral addition though.

Mine was also completely oblivious to their existence.

It is very hard to get good ones. If a LFS gets 10 in there might be 6 that will make the transit and only about 3 of those will eat. If you find one that has been at a LFS for a little bit and is eating frozen/pellet food BUY IT!

I have used Ultra Life Red Slime Remover in the past. I found that the cause of my outbreak was due to my RODI unit needed to be serviced.

What do you think the cause of your outbreak is?

Awesome new coral! Can we get a FTS to see the placement?

Yep, that's the problem with leopard wrasses. I work for the only LFS within an hour of my house, but the store owner won't order them. So I was told to go to Atlanta and find one that eats. Found a wonderful store who said they find if they tranship them they almost always eat. So they held onto him and had him eating well before I picked him up.

I don't want to use the slime remover because it's no too horrible. I siphoned most of it out and theres a little bit left. It's most likely because I've been overfeeding for the wrasse and mandarin.

I'll get a FTS after I scrape the glass, it's pretty gross right now. I wish I could get a photo that shows the colors of the piece. It's so bright that it practically glows and is a beautiful seafoam color.

Sorry to hear about your loss. If you decide to go with Rapidled's PAR38 you could get by with 2 but if you can afford it go with 3 just remember you will have to acclimate your corals to the LED's

You may want to check out Boostled PAR30 bulbs if you go to their website they have a video of a Solana with just 2 of their PAR30 with great PAR readings. They are a little less expensive than Rapidleds. I run 1 over a cube and it's plenty of light.
