Well hello to all you slackers who missed the April Meeting at Reef Down Under. I'll have to say it was a good meeting with a lot of old and a couple new faces. Even one that hasn't been here in about a year (name withheld to protect the innocent). Richard decided to do the elections a month early (I blame Spring fever...or is that hay fever...) so as you might have seen in another post its went down like this: President is yours truly, Vice pres is Cody, Treasurer is Vicki, Secretary is Walker, and lastly is Web coordinator/designer Richard. There are a couple of offices that will need to be appointed soon. Since I won't officially take the reigns untill next month i'll leave that be for now.
We had 22 in attendance with 2 new members straggling in at the middle making it a 24 pack! We had our regular "new guy draw" and my homie George "Call me Milkshake!" won the PC light for his soon to be fuge I'll be starting on in a couple of days, now that I got Ramiro taken care of. Colin won a complete Eclipse hood which I'm sure will be DIY'd into a PC kicker. And Steve won the PC retro. We covered the QT tank topic and Richard and I will be getting some QT tanks for the club. Walker came up with that nugget of genius. He suggested that we get some QT tanks and "rent" them to members as they were needed. So what we're going to do is have a QT system for the Jacksonians and the Memphians. There will be a primary caretaker that will "rent" the systm out as its needed. The "renter" will provide money (check or cash) that will cover expense of the most costly component. As long as its returned in good condition this good faith money will be returned. The renter will be responsible for cleaning the system and replacing the carbon filter (as it will come with one new filter). I think this is a great idea since we dont all have to take up storage room with an additional tank that will lay unused most of the time.
Also, memberships will now be prorated so they'll all come due for renewal on the same day of the year for everyone. This will make it a lot easier for membership tracking and record keeping.
After all this was covered the meeting degraded into a feeding frenzy as some of us (darn skippy Larson ) picked over the store with our Easter egg discounts.
I did talk about the St Jude Tank project at length but that will be addressed in another thread later this week. All I have to say is if you'll be in Memphis on Saturday and feel like getting dirty...the Poney's on Winchester and Perkins. If you want to help out with some tank renovation we'll be heading to St Jude.
Well, thats it for me now. I'll be monkeying with my mangrove tank and figuring up some measurements for a new acrylic "frag" tank (Ramiro, thats your fault :mixed: )
