April Meeting

Our April meeting is booked for Wednesday, April 12th from 7-9PM at the Bear Library. This is the first Wednesday meeting after the switch over we discussed a few months back, sorry for the confusion, all!
So, do we have any volunteers to do a little presentation on their tank?
- Mary

I can assist with your presentation on "how to catch damsels", I have two methods hook and line or firecracker and rock, anyone have a preference?

I want to see the firecracker method - only if it's a first-hand demonstration

someone else's tank of course

I imagine that technique would have the added benefit of generating LOTS of frags really fast. Count me in! I love demos!

OK, now that any potential new members reading this thread know that we're a bunch of FREAKS!!!:D.... Well, after I leaned on some people to possibly present (sorry guys :) ) it looks like we will not be having a formal presentation this month. But that's OK because we have lots of stuff to talk about. Like our website (looking good Barry!), possible field trips, guest speakers, volunteer projects, blowing up Joie's tank, etc.!

Hope to see everybody there - Mary

WTFZ0RZ, magnz?!11

I've been reading Tim the Mantis Shrimp thread. (Home page of this site, old thread, but still listed as thread of the month.) AHAHAHAA good reading! I wanna put a mantis or 20 in GEBC's tank and see what happens!

Keep your gamma ray army away from my cesspool!

BTW... got new ReefLux bulbs... OMGz0rZ!1 Also new... more rock and gigantinormous feather duster.

Is it a mantis? I want one when we move. I will feed him my old neighbors. $$$

GEBC, my new duster is bigger than your tank. Like this big...

(Fish Stories Inc. shall not be responsible for any misrepresentation of size.)

I got a BIG coral banded and he is a cannibal, every shrimp I throw in there is just an expensive meal. I need to find your source for those dusters, they are really nice :)

Hopefully, that is the link to Tim the Mantis Shrimp and His Sexy Adventures.

Oh, yes! I remember the coral banded! The one who thought my head would make a nice snack!

My Hawaiian duster 'Don Ho' came from That Pet Place, like two years ago. The purpley one 'Prince' came from Greenbanks. The newest... 'Kong' came from Just Fish.

The tang was quite annoyed with Kong's size, until he realized that Kong doesn't chase his food.

He is beautimous. White teeny feathers and "looks black veining".

(The black is actually deep purple or brown depending on lighting, observer blindness, etc.)

I've got some tired looking frags. but thegood news is my reef tank seems to be slowly shedding andstarving off that crazy macro algea that has been growing over everything. but its the healthy tank. anything i put in there grows and looks good. so if i tie it into the frag tank sump shortly, it might clean that one up too, and keep the water balanced.

Hey, i was thinking about a little talk on a new method of growing corals. not a real talk, maybe just present a new concept being used in the south pacific to grow corals through basically electro-plating. food for thought. i have a little info I have found on the process to share and a few ideas. so far its just being used to repair reefs. but i'm wondering how it could be applied to tank systems without electrocuting myself...

anybody want to hear about it wednesday night?
