Aptasia Eating Fish

I have gone to vinegar injections when needed.
Works just as well & will not clog the needle.
Some even use lemon juice.
CBB are so finicky I would use a filefish.

I have used lemon juice injections, but I've found peroxide works just as well to kill them. Started using it when I read an article about how it turns to water and oxygen so it doesn't mess with chemistry. Not sure how true that is (anybody an expert on this?) but it does the job. Some shrimp and hermits will eat the bodies after peroxide - but not after lemon juice.

Update.
Filefish has been in DT for over two months now.I can no longer see any Aiptasia.Anywhere...
So far,no other corals effected.
He has to be the ugliest but most interesting fish in the tank.

Jim,
purchase a couple of peppermint shrimp and leave them in the DT so that the aiptasia doesn't resurface. I had an aiptasia problem in my DT and Frag tank which I initially kept at bay with kalk paste and a majano wand. I eventually went out and purchased 5 or 6 peppermint shrimp and threw them in the DT and frag tank....I currently don't see any more aiptasia........(keep my fingers crossed). The peppermint have a way of disappearing also but I still have at least 1 in each of my tanks that I can see every once in a while.

I have a Copper band work great in one tank and a file fish do nothing in another tank..... I have a bad case of aiptasia right now in one tank so how this file fish kicks in gear.....or I have to try to catch this copper band

Filefish, for sure. But put him in another tank when he is done. Mine started eating the "good stuff".

I'd be willing to buy anything proven from somebody who was able to get rid of this pest. If you are done with the "service" fish please let me know.

Thanks

Lucked out with my second CBB, he is a aptasia eating machine. At first I did not think he was going to work but all of a sudden all aptasia were gone. He eats mysis like a pig also, model citizen and very pretty. Funny though, he won't touch manjano.

Do all or some of you with success have any cleaner shrimp? Just curious. Every time I put a file fish in there the shrimp disappeared . And various small snails.
Thanks
Tom

So...i shot a blast of lemon juice (freshly squeezed) into a few of the aiptasia that were plotting and planning a hostile takeover. They basically disintegrated. Plan to do this over and over since it seems to work better than aiptasia-x. lemon baths, and water changes.

I've also had great luck with vinegar, but recently added a Copper band as well to try and get to places I can't reach. Not sure if the CBB is working but he is eating mysis like a champ.

May be too late but if anyone has the locally caught 2 eyed butterfly fish they will cleanup all aptasia within a few days! But be careful they will eat other corals too. But this is the case with any fish that eats aptasia. Good luck.

I mix kalk paste with lemon juice to kill the suckers.

I just bought a CBB and it started eating withing an hour, He is the only fish in the tank, so I'll see how he takes care of the problem

Frank, Doing well, thanks for asking. Starting to think about upgrading my 80 Deep blue to a 120 with the same foot print just taller. Still haven't decided if I'll go reef or FO?

Talk to you soon.
