aptasia- why are they bad?

The main thing is that they are like a cancer in the sense that they start growing uncontrollably all over your tank; especially where you don't want them. For that reason, they are a major nuisance.

They supposedly have a nasty sting which prevents things you do want to keep from growing right next to them. I'm sure their dull brown/tan color doesn't help either.

Best of luck,

Roy

I think they are actually kinda cute little things.....like the gremlin movie! :p Man, am I showing my age!!

But, they will overtake your aquarium and sting your corals that you have near by....they also manage to get into the littlest area possible so that you can't get them....

Hmmm, does it sound like I am speaking from experience??!!!

We do plan on getting some more peppermint shrimp to help control ours as the one we have does seem to be helping some.

we have a small outbreak in our tank, when we move to our new house next month i'm going to work on killing them,

but basically they just sting you corals some of the bigger ones can catch and eat small fish.........so in a sense they are bad for you reef tank. and they multply fast...........
