Aqau C Remora Pro question

jsut put in a Aqua C remora Pro with a mag 3. The bubbles that it is creating are really big , and the waste that it is producing is jsut alot of cloudy white water, i emptied the cup 4 times in 12 hours, is it breakin in(( i bought it used) or am i missing somthign, anyone had experience with these things???

It's probably just breaking in. I would worry about the bubble size, though. You can dump the skimmate back into the tank if you want, IMO. I doubt it's significantly dirtier than the tank water at this point.

So are all the bubbles large? How does the reaction chamber look?

Yep same thing happened to me. raise the cup wait about a week or so it should start to pull out some gunk.

I added a spacer to raise the cup about a half inch higher. The bottom of the cup/tube is right at the top of the chamber now. Works good. If I had it lower it would just bubble up clear bubbles and fill the overflow excessively.

no not adding anythign except seachem ph buffer like bi weekly , not thing else. i am gonna raise the cup higher and give it a week or so , it was a used one so i dont thinkg it needs to break in

Skimmer

Skimmer

Woow its odd to hear your stories, Mine is the complete opposite, I have a new tank about 3months old with same skimmer that is about 1month old...

My problem is it doesnt pull much of anything out of the water... If i use a tap water conditioner it will... I guess I have a very low bio load, and a clean tank.

Keeping the injector clean is the best way to ensure max performance, I cleaned mine and it was almost completely clogged and not pulling anything out of the water, now my cup is full in 3-4 days of coffee colored skimmate. Keep the very bottom of the cellection cup neck almost touching the bubbles, shine a flashlight into the chamber to check the level and you'll get the darkest skimmate possible.

Can skimmers go bad??
Unless there is some physical damage ...generally speaking, skimmers don't go bad.

Feeding always makes mine go a little crazy for a few minutes.
I also on occasions use garlic extreme and it is wild for short time.

do you have a overflow box for your skimmer, Mine pulls of the surface of the water, without the overflow box the skimmer will suck up mid tank water ( not as effecient )

Good Luck :)
