aqua medic ocean lights

Jeremy, this is Andrew E. Thank you for your help yesterday with my online order. Please ship my 2 250 watt 20k Ocean lights as soon as they come in ( I know you did say about May 22).

I never got an email confirmation of my order so just want to make sure all is well with it.

You mentioned another light similar to this that you had in stock but I think it had a electronic ballast and not a magnetic one. I think the magnetic one will drive the bulbs harder but the electronic will put off less heat, correct? Will bulb life be about the same? What is the adv/disadv of the electronic ballast on this type of light.

Thanks again.

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

The electronic ballast will underdrive your lamp somewhat, however you're probably only looking at about a 7% difference or so. If you were going to run the bulb until failure, rather than spectrum change, then the electronic ballast would be the way to go. Typically we change our lamps out when the spectrum starts to shift, rather than when the bulb dies, so you're really not gaining any extra useable life from the electronic ballast. The electronic will put off less heat, but in the Spacelight that we were talking about it is internally mounted so the heat difference may not be as great with the remotely ballasted Ocean Lights.
