Anyone have experience with this filter?

I'm putting together a small scale breeding operation. I have about 600 gallons now and am looking to increase to 1300 gallons in a month. I'm looking to add more biological filtration and I was thinking this may be a good alternative to traditional wet/dry or fluidized bed filters.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If your thinking of going this route you'd be better served by either an, AQUADYNE or Sacramento bead, either one with a blower.

The biggest problem using any of these filters is the amount of water your going to loose during the backwash, unless you have NSW It'll get expensive.

I use a few different bead filters for my freshwater systems and it's comon to loose 100 gallons during a backwash to get the water free of debris (indoors)

birddog is right about the waste water from backwashing. Depending on bioload and feeding, backwashing can be anywhere from once a week to daily to keep the filters clean. I use that type often, but I've got running SW on tap ;)
