Aquabacs' Cadlights Artisan 50 Azooxanthellae Tank build

Thanks!

The fixtures are built very well. The heads on them can be angled in any direction and can hold the PAR 38 bulb without moving their position. The only thing I would have liked is if the clamping mechanism was black instead of white, but that is just me.

Besides red light being visually different and not something everyone is accustom to. Red lighting can be used to view nocturnal invertebrates without disturbing them since it seems that most can not see red light.

Im thinking about modifying my "disco ball" 150 mh lamp to take one of those par 38 bulbs. No need to run 150 watts of mh over a non photo tank just for light. How do you like them so far? Got a link to where you bought them?

Also, what do you do for Calcium and Alk? Do water changes alone keep your numbers in line or do you dose 2 part? That's my next step in planning.

PM sent on the bulbs.

I like them. I originally purchased them for my 24 Azoo tank and purchased more once I started planning my new tank. I actually have 4 of them: 12K, 20K, all blue and all red. I have tried more more bulbs for my set-up, but to me, what I am looking to achieve, it was just to bright for a Azoo aquarium.

For calcium and Alk, I dont add anything. I do 50% water changes twice a week, occasionally only once if I am too busy at work and have had no issues with calcium or alk demand.

For these tanks with all the water changes that we do, calcium and alk are don't really need supplemented. Most of the corals don't particularly use it, and those that do are not typically quick growers, except perhaps Tubasrea sp. However, depending on the salt you use, you might want to supplement the salt that you use to do the water changes.

Those bulbs look just like the standard Cree bulbs (formerly LLF). Does he mod them in any way? Also, you can get Cree LED's that dim.

The LED's in bulbs have been removed and replaced with white and blue Cree XRE LED's. Also you can order different degree optics for them. As of now they are non-dimmable.

Thanks Clay. They come in all different colorations: white, yellow, green, orange, pink, purple and in different variations of each.
