Aquabacs' Cadlights Artisan 50 Azooxanthellae Tank build

Mike share any tips on how you moved the full tank by yourself. Did you at least remove the sump underneath? I have to move my mini a few feet and I'm scared of having everything come crashing onto the ground, or the stand falling apart! I think I'm going to empty the tank at least 1/2 way and remove the sump.

Moved it comletely full, sump and all. My biggest concern was also that the stand was going to twist too much and fall apart. It actually wasn't that hard to do but did require precision brute strength.

I moved the aquarium very slowy by putting pressure to the bottom corner (where it meets the floor) of the side I wanted to push. Used proper body leverage (all legs) to slowly walk the aquarium into place. Just make sure if you are moving the aquarium always apply pressure to ONLY the stongest parts of the stand. This would be the back lower half corner seem and the front corner below the door hinges. The higher you push or apply pressure to the stand, the greater chance of it twisting.

Jason runs one heck of a store :)

Gotta love ESV's salt as well

Without a doubt! Jason has an amazing store..the pictures do it no justice. After the first day I walked in there it was hard to look any other aquarium store the same.

Coral is currently acclimating right now. Visually looks exact as the other colony right now and same color...just alot bigger! Pushing over 7 inches across, 4 wide, and over 200 heads.

The fish gods have spoken...a small Plectranthias sagamiensis came in (Sagami perchlet). Everything goes well, I will pick up on Saturday :bounce1: ...no sleep tonight.

Hey Aquabacs, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but, If you were to pick only 3-4 foods, no more than 4, from the Funa Marine line, what would you pick for Orange Tree Gorgonian (Swiftia exserta) and Feather starfish? My guess would be Ultra Min F, Ultra Min S, and 1 or 2 others?

For Fauna Marins foods, I would go with the Ultra Clam, SeaFan, MinF and MinD. I would look at keeping your feeding diversified and not limiting it by only the FM feeds. I would look at adding Reef Nutrition and a few other brands of food into the mix.

Oh, ok. Where do you get your Reef Nutrition foods from?

Nice fish selection! Your tank is unusual (in a great sense) and I like how your fish additions mimic your tank. My question is, where do you come up with these fish? I would guess, the suppliers know your penchant for high end fish and they e-mail you. Or your a Azoo tank god.
Myself I kill enough fish. I dont need to enter the high end.

Here is a link to make it easier:

Thanks Marty. I am mortal just like everone else and have kill my share of creatures too. I try to make sure that if I do kill something I learn why it died. Nothing dies in vain.

For fish, corals, etc...I try to build a good relationship with everyone, locally and online. As my wife says...I am a "fish dork".

I have to wait a few more days before I pick it up to make sure it is it eating (shouldn't be a problem). My jaw dropped when I saw it. Its body is patterned completely like the lower picture in the link above but it looks more intensely red and yellow in person.

Hey Aquabacs, do you think it would cost much food wise to keep an Orange Tree Gorgonian (Swiftia exserta) and 3 or so Feather starfish in a 28 gallon mixed reef(softies, LPS, SPS, Gorgonians)? Can't imagine it costing a lot since there wont be a lot of Non-Photosynthetic animals.

Aquarium should cost you between $50 and $75 a month (including salt). I would make sure the aquarium is established well before adding any crinoids. Then when the times to get one, only pick up one. Make sure you can keep that one alive and have it thriving in your aquarium before attempting to purchase more. I will warn you, if you are considering getting crinoids, they will damage your gorgonians if they are allowed to perch on them for a period of time. (that is my disclaimer) This is something I have observed in a closed system. They will perch in the most opportune feeding spot and stay there. You can chase them off the gorgonian but they will find their way back. It can be a problem if they choose to be on a gorgonian that does not grow back quickly. It is the price to pay if you want to keep them.
