Colony of Dendrophyllia gracilis picked up from Live Aquaria. The colony arrived in good physical shape. Coral's polyps seem to be weak an the colony will require work to have full polyp extension. (FM LPS+ food is shown in a few of the polyps) Additional videos of this coral will be posted as the colony progresses.

Sorry for not posting up too many pictures lately. My wife dropped my favorite camera when we were at a wedding and I am waiting for a new one to arrive.

Let her know we are all very upset at her. Unless you are getting a better camera in the deal.

I will tell her :) The camera she bought to replace it should be better at least all the specs are better...but we will see. She didn't break my new SLR but I am honestly not good at taking aquarium photos with it. I still need a lot of practice.

Mike

Aquarium should cost you between $50 and $75 a month (including salt). I would make sure the aquarium is established well before adding any crinoids. Then when the times to get one, only pick up one. Make sure you can keep that one alive and have it thriving in your aquarium before attempting to purchase more. I will warn you, if you are considering getting crinoids, they will damage your gorgonians if they are allowed to perch on them for a period of time. (that is my disclaimer) This is something I have observed in a closed system. They will perch in the most opportune feeding spot and stay there. You can chase them off the gorgonian but they will find their way back. It can be a problem if they choose to be on a gorgonian that does not grow back quickly. It is the price to pay if you want to keep them.

Mike
Oh, ok. My tank is a mixed reef and all my gorgonians are photosynthetic, so, I think they should be fine even if the crinoids sit on them.

Thanks guys.

The new colony I started nursing with Fauna Marin LPS+ pellets and Cycplop-eeze. I painstakingly fed almost every single polyp one pellet, let it sit for a half hour and then turned back on all the pumps in the aquarium.

+1 for supporting your local fish store. It is extremely important as a community for us to do so. Build a great relationship with them and you would be amazed what they can and will do for you.

Tonight was monthly sump TLC Night :)

Disassembled & scrubbed my skimmer, cleaned the return pump, cleaned media reactor, basic wipe down of the sump, drain and refill.

I just got texted the Plectranthias Sagamiensis died this morning. I was afraid of this, that is the main reason I was waiting. These fish are normally voracious feeders and for one not to eat, something could be wrong besides possible stress. I was really hoping to pick up either today or Thursday. Now, I have to wait since availability of this fish does not come around too often, atleast for now it doesn't.

sorry to hear about that beautiful fish,it would have been nice addition to already complete tank.hope another one comes along the way.also,i would really like your input for my tank setup if i may ask...
