Aquabacs' Cadlights Artisan 50 Azooxanthellae Tank build

Thanks for that Arkive.org article Mike! Very interesting.

Reproduction in lace corals is more complex than in reef-building corals. The polyps reproduce asexually, producing jellyfish-like medusae, which are released into the water from special cup-like structures known as ampullae.

Do you think these "special cup-like structures" are the "patterns" we are seeing on our Distichopora Mike? Great close up shots BTW!!!

Between the return pump & vortech MP40 about 70x a hour. It was over 100x before I removed MP10 :)

I saw this cultured silk yesterday and never tried keeping a cultured one before. So last night, I thought about it whether to do it or not and decided to go for it.

Picture was taken about 7 hours since I put it in my system.

Nice video mike. He is like " too breezy, I'm out of here". LOL The Sclero looks good. Train it like you would a sun. I don't think it will like to be moved into a dish though. You will have to keep it in the tank. I fed everytime it puffed up. Don't be surprised if it shrinks back down after it feeds.

I have been working on trying to record crinoid activities as much as possible. Thought I was going to catch him swim. I believe they swim more as an escape mechanism than a normal activity.

As for the silk, it shunk this evening about a half hour after I direct fed it. Good call :) My aquarium is fed continous but I am going to work on direct feeding it as often I can without fouling my tank. What is your current diet for yours?

Mike, I had that same coral a few years back, aquacultured scerlo is what I thought it to be. One pink and one orange tied down with fishing line. It seemed to respond best when I fed rotifeast. Not sure why but it seem to expand and open the most when I added it. I fragged it a few times and traded off the healed attached frags too.

Thanks Erik. Rotifeast is one of the foods I am target feeding it with, great stuff. I have been wanting to start up a live culture of rotifers, pretty much have everything for it from my last aquarium, just need to order the actual live culture.

Just my usual. I will say that it does respond to my "blended up mixture" better than my normal food mix. I may have to start a culture again also. I had one for awhile but got lazy and it crashed.
