Feeder, I looked at your video. It looks like you are running a lot of air, getting large bubbles. Here is the adjustment that works best on my EV-180 with the Eheim 1262:
- Remove the output gate valve. This will put the water level near the top of the external box without having to restrict the pump. However, it appears you cannot do this because you have the EV-180 external to the sump.
- Start with the air valve almost fully closed. Gradually open it until most of the water foams up with tiny bubbles. Wait a few hours before opening the air valve further.
- Gradually the foamy water should produce a thicker head of foam that rises. This foam will quickly collapse if you feed the tank, put your hands in the water, etc.
- Check how high this foam rises. It should rise just enough to push some dry skimmate over the top.
- If you want wetter skimmate, open the air valve a tiny bit more, but not too much because with too much air, the skimmer will become less predictable.
