i have my aqauc hanging on my new sump, it is being fed by a rio 1400, its just barly bubling, not creating any foam, this is brand new tank nothing in it but rocks and sand. is this normal or is something wrong?
as bertoni said, a few days needed for brand new skimmer to "break in". Aside initial break in, foam production is greatly depends on quality of water and bio-load. The bigger bio-load and/or the dirtier the water (proteins and other junk) -> the more foam will be produced.
I've heard that most who have AquaC Remora (including myself) prefer MaxiJet 1200 instead of Rio
I Also have the same skimmer for about a month I have been in touch witht he company and they also said the amount pulled out is based on the bio load...
Mine pulls out less than a tablespoon a week, then again I've only had my tank setup for a short period.
aqua-c skimmers seem to work sometimes and sometimes not work at all. Just let it run for a while, and if there is junk for it to take out it will do it. I have an aqua-c on a tank with a low bio-load and most of the time it doesn't do much, but sometimes in the morning I notice that overnight it collected a bunch of skimmate. So just be patient.
