AquaController Bricked During Firmware update

Is there a way to update the firmware without the network?

Currently my controller will not even power on the display. It is completely dark. All status lights are blinking orange.

Thanks,

Without a network; do you mean direct connect to a PC, yes. You need to manually configure the PC's NIC card but it works just fine.

What happened that caused the problem; did you try updating via wireless connection to the Apex?

If the Apex is hard connected and the update is interrupted you can run the update again; it will retake.

The Apex base LED; flashing, correct?

The Apex is directly wired to the hub, but the update was being done from my Mac which is wireless.

The Apex base light is flashing, orange. I have tried to run the update again. In fact I dug out an old Dell with Windows XP on it and loaded the firmware tools.

But I get the following message:

Loading firmware file into memory
Firmware file load complete...
Calculating Apex Start Checksum Vector
Calculating Apex Start Checksum Vector complete...

Operation failed with the following error information:

Access is denied

Interesting; it would appear that something else on the network might be answering the polls to the Apex.

Try this: Disconnect the Apex and start the uploader; it should after a few seconds start counting connection failures. Once it starts counting them connect the Apex; it should be found and upload.

Thanks for the feed back:

Turns out there were 2 problems:

1) The Laptop with windows XP did not have administrative privileges, so the arp update could not take place to communicate to the controller.

2) Once I followed these steps to start the updater and then cycle power on the apex using the Mac with Mono (where I do have administrative privileges) the update would start, but would end up corrupted. I turned off the wireless connection and put an ethernet cable on the mac and followed the same steps with perfect results.

Thanks to you and RussM for helping me through this!
