AquaForest Program

Ouch Franky! Your killing my Buzz on this stuff. I am still giving it a shot in the frag tank but taking it slow. I will be using the Reef Salt and the Components 1+,2+,3+. I think it is at least worth giving it a trial run.
I am having an issue with very high Calcium, Alk and Mag. numbers. I have been using RC in this system and adding no 2 part or Kalk. I have noticed a nice slow lowering to more acceptable levels in my first 2 water changes. I am hopeful my use of the components and salt along with good husbandry will get me growing out some awesome corals soon!

Good luck with that. See you back on regular salt soon.

I had a bit of an issue with some of my SPS (mainly frags) but am not throwing in the towel either. I like how simple the system can be. And let's face it we have all had problems with other salts and supps. I will say in the bar tank I do 90% weekly WCs and the tank looks great. No supps or any other dosing btw.

On the other tanks I had a bit of an algae bloom and probably have high nutrients but never test cause po4 tests are a joke. I think running all three medias in the reactor opposed to the normal gfo only for me let my po4 rise as I had a bit of algae bloom. Not sure if I wasn't doing enough of the bac dosing either.

Also keep in mind the foods are super concentrated. Regardless as stated I'm still pushing forward. Did 22g WC yesterday, upped my gfo, put carbon on passively again, and dosed the components ABC.

Simple lol perhaps but many steps and too many additives to pinpoint error. Oh and s 90% water change in a 1 gal tank is like a shot glass isn't it. Lamp

I switched over to the probiotic salt after my tank had a mini crash and I lost a few things and most sps were damaged. My colors on corals have never looked better been using about 2 months now don't see any negative effects. Will be adding the components this week gope fi lly does well

The trick is slow which we all have an issue with. I have many friends doing amazing on the program which is why I know it was user error. Keep us updated as will I. My colors do look amazing too just have to get the little algae spurts down.

I'm starting at 50ml of each component which is half of the recommended dose, I will inform of results over weekend.

SO is your tank stable now ?I just read this whole thread n some are up in arms and some love it ? . I get the part some balking about the products are not consumer's but that's normal .

I have not switched everything to all AF yet . Just using the probiotic salt , pro bio-f , probio s n waiting on a replacement for coral e .
I have used the salt maybe 6 weeks but the last 3 water changes were weekly.
No stn, rtn, or slime present ... yet

Yup tank looks great and so all the animals. I will post soon once I clean up the glass and powerheads which are covered in algae lol. I still like what I'm seeing.

I disagree about the snake oil comment. I have been happy with my results so far. I kept my tank somewhat simple before this. I would do a water change 1-2 times a month, use gfo if my glass started getting more algae than normal, passive carbon, maintained alk/cal/mag with a carx, sKimmed heavy, and passively run Rox 0.8 . I have around 150-200 lbs of live rock. My tank doesn't look bad but not quite the jaw droppers yout see on here frequently.

A few pages back I posted my nitrates were around 25. Turns out I'm a goof and need to read a little better. My no3 was really at 5. I do not test it that often. The only thing I test frequently is alk.
I started with the probiotic salt, pro bio s, np pro, coral a,b,e,and v.

My water was clearer over night. The polyp extension has been great. I have noticed the color has improved quite a bit along with growth. In 3 weeks I have noticed a clear difference for the better. I am not being a" fan boy either".

I have had some issues along the way. Before starting I had cyano an it hasn't cleared up. It also hasn't gotten worse. In the fist week between the probiotic salt ,np pro,and probio s my nitrates dropped from 5 to 1. I had a few corals that were not happy. I was doing the recommended 1/2 dose to start as well. I backed off and even waited till the 3rd week to do another wc. I have always fed my fish a lot but I really stepped up the feedings since. I also stared dosing spectra cider stump remover to keep my no3 at 2. My fish are getting fatter and I have better import/export of no3 in my tank. 0 nitrates have been proven to be a problem and that's why I do it.

I know there are many different ways to run a nice tank and get the results you want. From my experience so far I have been pretty happy. My tank was clearly missing something before I started using the af products.

^ I'm glad you posted your opinion. That said, others have and will post theirs. That is the beauty off these forums. Glad you love it.
Progression pics would be great.

Thx Pauly for not beating me up lol. I've read about how unhappy you were. I didn't see if you did but did pic up anything else besides the salt.
I took some before pics that didn't turn out the greatest. I only use the camera on my phone. Plus I have no idea how to use photo bucket. I'm a terrible person.:fun2:

Real quick one from March 31
