How often do you "deep clean" your skimmer - not just the collection cup, but disassemble the pump and clean?

Only had mine a month, too early to say. But the current plan is to clean at the same time I replace the chemiclean and purigen. Thats when i take apart the pumps and clean them. Might as well do it all at one time.

Watching this, I'd like to know too.. Mine is also a month old, so I havent cleaned it yet.

I had mine running for about 5 months. I "deep cleaned" it only once in that span. I did have to clean the air silencer thingy due to salt creep a few times though.

Mine has been up and running about 8 weeks now and I haven't deep cleaned it yet, and hence my question.

Had mine for a few months and it started getting very noisy. Thats when I decided to disassemble and do a full clean. Unfortunately, this didnt help the noise but was a good thing to do nonetheless. Its that situation where if I pinch the silencer the noise stops, but as soon as I let it go it starts making a loud sound like a train chugging along :/

Oh - One thing I completely forgot to mention! After a few months the airline tubing got REALLY noisy, and I couldn't figure out what was wrong... after taking it apart I realized there was some MAJOR salt creep buidup in the hole on the pump where the airline tube attaches.

Make sure you clean that out pretty well when you do go for a "deep clean" and you'll be fine.

I agree, the air inlet on the pump plugs with salt creep and should probably be cleaned monthly to keep the air intake at maximum.
