Aquaph8's 225 Build

The black worms quickly became a favorite. She still acts really shy but seem to be getting better and better. My goal is to have her eating out of my hand by the time she comes out of QT. Maybe Im crazy though. She is definitely more comfortable under less light. I may throw a screen over the tank and try to acclimate her to the lights.

I use an eheim feeder 3 times a day with 4 different sizes of pellets. This way even if I have to work late or something comes up the fish still get fed.

That's fantastic that he's taken to them man!! as for the fish...Totally possible with certain species. A buddy of mine has one of those flashlight fish and it does not like the lights at all.. Stays hidden most of the day. I feed my guys three times a day as well with an Auto-feeder. Now that my Powderblue is finally eating dry food (flake and spectrum) other than Nori after 8 months of having him, I don't have to load up the clip with Nori every morning anymore!

Brett, glad to hear she is eating well!

The muelleri continues to progress. Im gonna start a prazi treatment today and just keep the food going. Lighting no longer seems to be an issue and she's starting to associate me with food now.

On a negative note the borbonius Anthias is showing some faint white marks on his fins and I noticed some wear on the tail and fins Im a little worried about. Im thinking some kind of bacterial issue but I'm not sure if I can get him out to treat. What do you guys think? Should I just watch it for now?

The dinos or diatoms, which ever they may be are still getting better slowly but my feeding schedule is starting to show as nitrates are creeping up a little. Im trying to decide if I want to go back to carbon dosing or not. I love feeding many times a day, my fish have been so much healthier but it comes at a price.

That's great to hear about your butterfly... with the anthias... is he still eating well? If there's a way for you to get him out without stressing him too bad, I would do it. If not, I would just ride it out and make sure your soaking ur food in vitamins and garlic.

We share in the fact that we both love fish and like to see them fat and healthy in our systems. For that reason alone, we will naturally feed more, which can lead to problems in SPS systems. So, carbon dosing is a now a proven and solid way for us to keep that balance in our SPs dominant reefs...I say go for it Brett!

Last but not least, this is my yearly health check on you and your lungs. How's the smoke free life treating you Buddy?

Thanks Jonathan,
The Anthias is still eating really well. I may try to trap him but he's not gonna be an easy one to catch. I think this time around, Im gonna leave Vodka out all together and just go with Vinegar. I had such a better experience with Vinegar than with Vodka last time. Ill start slow and see how it goes.

As far as my lungs go:

It was a year in September, I have zero cravings now and really have no thoughts of ever smoking again. Im saving a bunch of money which easily funds this expensive hobby of ours and physically feel better than I have in a long time. I was spending about $11 a day on cigarettes which is insane if you do the math. After 15 years of smoking I never thought I could quit in a million years but Im glad I did. My favorite part is that my kids were young enough that they will never remember seeing me smoke. Thanks for all your continued support, you wouldn't believe how much spending time with everyone on this site helped me through the rough period.

I'm so happy to hear that Bro! My Dad did the same when my eldest brother was born and I always felt that by him stopping, he gave us a few extra years of having him with us. That's awesome man!

I think you should stick with whatever carbon source that works for your tank!

Thats great Brett way to go...smoke freee yeaaaahhh!!
Spendin that bugjet on corals is so much better....corals better than smoke :D
Even i am of the opinion of ya turning back to carbon dosing...if ya feeding heavy...it will help in keepin nutrients low...

congrats on going smoke free

Thanks Pete:D

Thanks Jonathan, Im still trying to get my dad to quit. Hopefully he will sooner than later. It really does feel great to be rid of the curse.

+1, mega grats. My story of being hooked would read almost identical to yours. I'm one year ahead of you on the quit date though. It's great to be free.

Thankyou sir, congrats on 2 years

Thanks Noob, Vortec money right,LOL. I agree, Ill be going back to carbon dosing.

Congrats Brett, keep up the good work! It's amazing what we can accomplish as long as we have the will power!!
It's gonna be tough getting the Anthias out if you have to but on the other hand it's good to know the Muelleri is eating well.

Contgrats Brett, that's a great accomplishment. It's amazing what people can do when they're motivated. After smoking for 40+ years I saw my father-in-law give it up cold turkey after we told him that we would not bring his only grandchild (at the time) to his house because of the tobacco smoke. He never picked them up again.

Brett, you should be very proud as that is quite an accomplishment!

I did not see this post regarding your Borb earlier. After seeing the pics in your id thread, it looks like lymphocystis virus. There is no treatment per se, it will just have to run it's course. Keeping good water quality and proper nutrition (which you already do) will help his immune system beat the virus.

Good for you Brett...our kids are always a great motivator. Here's hoping we both live to see our grandkids and then some. ;)

Thanks aquainas, the Anthias looks better so maybe its just one of those things. The muelleri is still eating but has started to shake his head a little and is acting kinda shy again. I was trying to hold off for a while but went ahead and started a prazi treatment yesterday. Hopefully he'll come back around soon.

Hi Dan, and thankyou. Its amazing that he quit after 40 years, that really says a lot. Those first few months were so hard for me but Im glad I got through it.

Thanks M&T, Im very happy that I did it.

Thanks for the info, it doesn't seem to be getting any worse so many it wont be too big of a deal. That fish is such a freak it would be really hard to catch him.

Thanks Jim, they sure are, lets shoot for great grand kids:beer:

Thanks Mike or Terry, whoever you may be. The muelleri is a completely different fish after prazi. Its crazy how much happier and active she's become. Even got a couple nibbles out of my hand today. The video was taken with my new Iphone. I like this phone so much better than my old Droid.
