Aquapod Questions

Im just setting up my aquapod and i have the standard pc lighting. Is it worth it to upgrade to the Sunpod 150w? As of right now im worried about heating issues and i dont think i could add a fan due to my limited skills with wiring. I have seen people cut the hinges off of the top and run an open top. I know this would help cause i could run a skimmer and also a hob fuge if i wanted.

Just wondering if it is really worth the extra money. Im a college student and am looking to get this set up with as little cash as possible but i want it to be nice. I want to have a good tank for my fish and corals. I currently have a 10g nano with a 96w pc quad over it and im going to be transfering that into the 24g.

Also i would need the 20" light correct? Where would be the best place to order if i choose to go that route?

Just curious!

Thanks
Randall

Depends on what your planning to keep. I keep LPS (Acans, Blasto's, Candycane, etc...) in mine without a problem.

If you dont want SPS I think your o.k. going stock

i have the 75 watt hallide, le tme tell you, once you go to halides you will never go back to pc's. i dont have a heat issue because the halides rests approx 4 inches about the water. and it has a built in fan. i would defiantely go with the halide and you will need to remmove the hood for good, there should beinstructions on how to do this. hope this helps

Ever since I put the Sunpod 150watt hallide on my 24AP my corals have never been happier worth the money in my opinion also fun having a clam in the tank :)

Durning the summer I just put a fan next to the tank and the temp stays 78-80 rite now since the weather is cooler no problems staying at 78 with no fan

well i would love to keep a clam and some montipora because i have some really cool pieces in my 10g. I was going to place them high in the tank and see how they did. I just dont know what i should do. I would love to but is it really worth it.

yes it really is, trsut me on this. i have been in this hobby for over 4 years, i used to have freshwater for 3 years before that,. metal halides and vho are really the only way to go for a tank. in your case you cant use vho's because theydont make them small enough. i have vho's over my 15 long and can keep a clam, i have metal halides over my 24 aquapod and can keep anything i so choose (except for high light sps). get the halide, it will not only be better for your corals, but you will like it alot too

Ok i think im going to do it but i just want to make sure i will need the 20" fixture correct. I work at a LFS so i can get things at cost so that will be nice.
Thanks for all the imput
