Hello, i am tom from the netherlands, lets say amsterdam to make it easy. i always read the posts about non-photosynthetic corals in the usa because i want to learn more about feeding, light and filtration en how you do that overthere.
My aquarium is 180 x 95 x 45 x 55 so not a square.
in my sump there is a BBK supermarine 250 & a algeascrubber.
My corals are:
3 suncorals
5 chilicorals
5 scleronephtya
3 dendronephtya
different kind of gorgonia
5 pieces of porites

I am feeding a mix of fauna-marin, special food for clams, gorgonia en dendro's. its like glue it sticks on the small tentakles.
than a mix of mysis, red krill, cyclops at least 2 times a day.
I started 6 months ago so lets see how it goes.
i try to send some pictures not so good but than can see for yourself
greetings from tom/ netherlands

sorry i don't no how to put the pictures in this message but they are now in the gallery. can someone tell me how to get the pictures with the message in one time?
and is it possible to make bigger pictures?
grts tom

Hi Tom!

First of all:
<img src="/images/welcome.gif" width="500" height="62"><br><b><i><big><big>To Reef Central</b></i></big></big>

You can add photos using the "IMG" button in editor, just insert the URL of the photo in the text field of the popup window...

Or use [.IMG.] [./IMG.] tags (without the dots) like [.IMG.]http://grumpyreefer.net/wp-content/gallery/marinelife-eu-52009/pict8877.jpg[./IMG.] :

Tom,

Your tank and corals look fantastic!

Do you use Fauna Marin Ultramin S and/or have you tried the Ultramin D?

hallo tatu, thank you for the compliment !!
from fauna marin i use the ultra-pac/clam/amino and i mix it with cyclops, lobstereggs and reef pearls. the reef pearls are small en you can see the arms of coral catch them.
I feed at least 2 times a day in the morning the mix and in the evening i give frozen plankton or liquid life.
I started 7 months ago with a aquarium of 120 x 50 x 50
with non-photo's and soon i wanted a bigger aquarium so i bought this one 8 weeks ago and with a lot of time and work it is now how i want it. 1 week ago i bought a BBK supermarine 250 and i hope he will do his job very good. Because i feed so mutch i need the best skimmer there is so we will see.
The nitrat is now 2.5 mg/l so still good
and no fosfat.
here in holland its difficult to find nice corals because not many people have non-photo's .
thank you for putting the pictures like they are now but i still don't understand how you did that.
greetings tom

Always interesting to hear how people feed their azooxanthellae corals! I have had great success with FM Ultramin D, Ultramin F and Ultra Seafan but I don't have that many azoos yet. If you think it's difficult to find azoos in Holland you can only imagine what it's like here in Finland :eek1:

I was going to order some more FM foods but decided I would try out some other brands now that I know how good quality invertebrate foods should work ;) I'm ordering NanoFood and PICOfood from AquaConnect and Coral V Power and Coral-Energizer from Preis. I still have enough FM foods left if those doesn't work ;)

thank you for putting the pictures like they are now but i still don't understand how you did that.
I just opened the image in that link in a new window and copied the actual image url. For example, http://picasaweb.google.nl/lh/photo...?authkey=Gv1sRgCMONnuqNpvfxTg&feat=directlink will not work because it is link to a web page, not to an image. The actual image URL is http://lh6.ggpht.com/_gSyjrJD0wyk/ShmQokbad3I/AAAAAAAAATU/mOzPkTFMYpc/s720/DSC01426.JPG which you can use with the [ IMG ] tags. Like this:

This weekend i bought some new corals for the tank. i think one stereonephtya en one distichopora sp . the tank is getting better and nicer to look at because i get more and more colours and corals to look at.
I also ordered new coralfood, phytofeast live and phythofeast premium. in other forums and articles i have been reading about it en it must be really good. all de corals en gorgonians are doing well, i don't no if they grow but they are open and ooking good.
