Aquarium silence

Finally my aquarium is quiet. My return pump vibrates like crazy on the bottom of my acrylic sump. I think the stand then amplifies the sound. Then there was the splashing from my skimmer output.

My RO skimmer has an odd size piping for the output but I found the OD of a 1" T fitting fits inside it and now no more splashing. 😃 For my pump I had an old piece of acrylic that I put 4 beads of caulking on the bottom to act as feet. I also put 4 strips of caulking on the top so the pump wouldn't vibrate off. By doing that I canceled out almost all of the vibrations. Another 😃

I didn't realize how loud my set up was until I fixed all the noise. My tanks are in the garage so it didn't bother me to much.

Good job! I wish I could get my system to be a little quieter. Btwn the MP40 and Mag 9.5 it's def noticeable. What kind of return pump do you have?

Nice job using the isolators Nick. Silence is a great thing, especially if the tank is in the house. keeps the wife happy. ;)

Good for you, Nick.

Various fan and motor hums drive me crazy. I don't mind the water noises too much and they can mask the hummmmmmmmmm. :)

I posted about an Eheim return. It's gotten better over time and I also found some suction cups that would fit it.
