In speaking to Lehann today she said her morning consisted of cleaning up her store. After some sorry S.O.B robbed her. What a peice of crap Uh! She has a new born, or well couple of months old, son and he has a skin condition that heat makes it worse on him. Poor little guy. Well she had just bought a new indoor air conditioner that would have helped her son to remain in the store, that was stolen. They also stole her money to start the day out with, and took a t.v. and dvd player that played educational movies for her little one. I have seen some of the movies, and they aren't cartoons, it was truly amazing what they have to stimulate baby's brains today. Anyways they took some other stuff. Apparently the other night these same criminals hit some other bussiness to the toon of like fifteen grand, so the police didn't dust for finger prints the just made a report. She has insurance but only to raise her premiums. So she's just gonna bite the bullit. She has been the primary care giver of the UCO tank, water changes, ect. Out of her pocket, to my knowledge. She has also done many things for COMAS and it's members and has been a very professional and good friend to all customers and fish owners...

What I would like to do is help her out. By way of selling off a nice coral of mine or maybe more if it takes more! It could be bid on, or raffled, or something... Or possibly put in a frag pack ect... I'm sure someone will have some great ideas.. It would be great if others would join in... If someone does not have anything to donate they could donate time.. like getting this raffle/ benefit under way and help with it being put together. With the new job and new house, Time will be limited and will be flying out to Pitsburge,PA for Amanda's award ceremony for 3 days, till Thurs. We need to know if anyone's is interested in this great cause, and we will be ready to get a start on it thursday when we get back..... Lehann is such a nice, good hearted person and it would be very nice to help her out! In no way are we trying to gain brownie points, just trying to do whats right. Me and Amanda have great big hearts, and I know other COMAS members do too .. I would do this for any of our lfs ...

Thank You Sincerly Wayne & Amanda Duck

A little bit of our kindness could go a long way.......

Wayne,

Thanks for posting.

If anyone wants to donate cash, or sell anything, to raise whatever we can to help leighanne out, please contact me and I will work to get something sorted out. With the meeting coming up on saturday, maybe we could do something then.

Please PM me if you have anything would care to include or donate.

Any items of equipment we could auction off on saturday.

Paul.

I will be donating and raffling off/auctioning off an acrpora valida colony at the meeting.

Paul.

I could donate mbuna for her to sell in her shop, tis about all I can do, I don't have any of the cool stuff yet.

Way to go folks! This is an awesome community to response to an bad situation. Makes me proud to be part of COMAS!

I know the feeling Papa, I was there Saturday as well. The wierd thing is I never go there, but I needed fish food.

Anyone have anything to raffle off for this good cause, a frag, fish, spare equipment? anything

Stuck in PA all flights were over booked using stupid e-mail / t.v. contraption, should be back Friday with good stuff to auction off....

I don't know if I can get something for this meeting, but I'm more than happy to do something later.

That, stinks. Maybee if the raffle thing doesn't work out we could have everyone donate $5.00 or what ever they could aford to donate at the next club meeting.

I would suspect that the best way that anyone can help would be to buy stuff from her. It may also be easier for her to accept rather than what may feel like alms.

Just a thought

Thats a nice idea too but cash works everywhere and would not limit her as where she could use it ... I'm sure that any support will be a suprise and greatly appreciated....

Thank You everyone who is willing to get involved with this!

Yes - but a Gift Card to some place feels more like a gift and less like charity. It's also harder to refuse...

Excellent point, Sarah. I was thinking after I posted that Babys-R-Us was pretty expensive. And Target is much more mutually useful.

Honestly, we should think about this less as "helping her store" (because we are doubtful to raise enough money to actually help her store - that's best served by just shopping there). Rather, we should think of this as thanking her for all of her good service and years of support for the hobby in this area, and for COMAS.

Just a thought.

Also, if she hasn't replaced the DVD player yet, one of those could be gotten at Walmart for $50 or less (if someone in the area wants to make a generous thank you gift). Or even more, a replacement little TV could be got for not much more (assuming it wasn't that big of a TV).

Or perhaps someone has an older, unused TV they would be willing to gift.

Just some more thoughts... :)

Why not just have a collection, then give it to her from the club. It's fast & easy, and she can purchase what she needs.

Just a thought,
Ray
