Aquascape Complete! Lots of Pics!

Wow! My goal was to look at my tank and see a "show tank." I could never do this because I was unhappy with my rocks (placement). Scott came over and we completely tore down my tank and redid it all. I have to say, I am so happy with the way it turned out! Scott wasted no time, he had a plan and we started right away. Just about 7 hours later we were finished with the aquascaping, then I had to put the corals and fish back in. The rock placement is awesome, this cement Scott used works very well. Let me know what you all think! I'll get more pictures when the water clears.

I'll get more as it clears up, I promise! Thanks again Scott!

Nice job! The rock looks great! Scott, you are awesome! Helper of reefers everywhere!
I think one of the neatest things about this hobby is the people you meet.

Great improvement! I am not sure how long this tank has been running, but are you concerned about moving all of the sand around like that? It seems you would have stirred up a lot of unpleasant stuff.

So are all the rocks cemented together or are they removable? Does the frag rack come out or is it permanant? Nothing kills a show tank like egg crate. :)

Looks awesome though, great job.

Looks great, kinda looks like Scotts:rollface: ,

Seriously looks alot better, I had a chance to see Scotts over the weekend and it looks like the same size tank.

Great job

I have not replyed to many post since I moved but I have to on this one; great job guys it really looks nice! It looks really natural, I bet it even looks better in person. Does the PVC rack act as a spray bar, I think I seen some holes in it.

Is that an Emp angel? If so i wouldnt trust it with corals. As juvis they are fine but when they start to change 4''-5'' they will start picking at corals. And at 7'' they will eat most of the corals.

Very nice job guys... I think half of the fun in Saltwater tank is messing around with different stuff, experimenting with this and that...

are you concerned about moving all of the sand around like that?

That was our biggest concern. We tried fruitlessly pushing the CPVC racks down to the sand, but were unable. We decided to move the sand and anticipate some die-off. Water changes will be done frequently to account for this. Hopefully all turns out ok.

are all the rocks cemented together or are they removable?

We used a combination of zip ties and cement to anchor the rocks. All rocks except a few on the top sections of the reef are fastened. We also used some cement to hide zip ties.

A major concern of Adam's was these two digging gobies. You can see there eel-like bodies in the photo of fish in the bucket. We tried to build something they could be proud of digging into without having rock tumble on their heads. We also left alot of open floor space, which looks great with those corals down there.

Ed, the holes in the PCVP allow water to enter the rack to prevent air trapping and buoyancy. It is not used as a spraybar.

The project was fun. Adam, thanks for the sodas and a chance to play:D . It was nice meeting everyone.

BTW, Adam did you have any fish or coral loss?

The frag rack is removable, it just hangs there. As soon as I find a place for the frags that are on it, the rack will be removed. I haven't seen anything that has died yet, let's hope nothing will! I'll get some pics up later today after work. It looks so much better today!

Who be Jeffro? :) I still have that frag rack in the tank, and have been reluctant to take pics with it in there. As soon as I find spots for the frags I'll take some pics. I will say that the tank looks amazing though! My coraline is finally starting to come back, and my corals are doing amazing! My superman and ppe's are spreading like crazy. I'm going to have a good amount of zoos for the frag swap in October. I'm going to try to cut some of the ppe's tomorrow, as well as some of the other stuff in the tank. I don't know how, but I have tons of live brine in my sump, lol. I never even tried for them.

Hi Adam, Jeff is a coworker of mine that wants to build a reef tank when he moves back to Ohio. I'm giving him some samples of some other local tanks.

Could you bring my big trash can and maxijet to the event please? It will be easier to hook up there.

I'm glad to hear the tank is doing well. Post pics, I don't care if the frag rack is in there, just the reef geeks do :)
