Aquascaping and flow

I'm about ready to aquascape (essentially a rock wall along back w/ canyon look) and am wondering how do I make sure that I don't create detritus traps behind the rock wall?

Also, is there a way to keep growth off a portion of the back wall without a mag float? (the back is up against the wall, so no access from outside)

You can periodically scrape the back wall by hand with a razor blade, or just let it go naturally. I gave up trying to keep mine clean, and after a while it blends in.

i have a small seio 820 super glued to a mag float that gives me flow behind my rockwork.
