aquascaping "tying rock to pvc" question

When you zip tie the rock to the pvc in an arch and its hanging there....what stops the zip from breaking at some point and the rock dropping down and causing destruction and mayhem...

the zipties should not break Valerie.
I have used them for years and not had one break, I use trhe larger black variety.

Paul thanks, I really enjoyed the article. Was just wondering about the rock on the arch since nothing holds it but air..well water...and a zip. I bought the white zips instead of black thought they'd hide better? Should I get black instead?

They work just as well. Just dont use the thin ones.

The only difference bewteen the white and black is that the black are UV rated for out door use. the whites will get brittle in the sun and break. as far as for our tanks they should be fine. I pinned my rock and zip tied the arch. I also used reeef epoxy where needed to help hold it together or fill gaps. I used some epoxy to cover and hide a couple zip ties where they showed to. Either way you go it should be fine and hold up well. mine is 2 1/2 yrd old and no issues.

Thank you! I bought some epoxy Friday, so just need to get motivated! I'm ready to go, but know its going to be a lot of work...it will be worth it though...
