Aquatic Central under new management

Just visited Aquatic Central on Ocean Ave in SF and I learned that the new owner, Chris is adding more saltwater stuff. He seems like he cares about the hobby and expressed that he will not be gouging the prices. Got a great deal on a brain. He said he'll be adding 64 more tanks downstairs for saltwater. I thought I'd spread the word because SF is in desperate need of some high end coral.

did you see any peppermint shrimps there? i'm looking for a couple in the city... :)

Didn't see any peppers

Dan used to keep all of his quarantined fish downstairs... Damn, I new it was for sale awhile back but he never said anything...

I went by today and could have sworn I saw 2-3 peppermint shrimps. I would call just in case.

He is just setting stuff up. He should be adding a bunch of tanks and yes, he did mention he had a downstairs. Chris mentioned it was mainly used for storage. It should fit a lot of tanks and coral. If you're far from the area, I probably would wait until more stuff is set up. Right now he just has one tank with some mixed LPS and softies. He has some inverts and fish. I expect it to have a lot of stuff once he gets the tanks up and everything stocked.

I'm pretty hopeful it becomes THE saltwater shop in SF since there aren't a lot of options.

thanks funguy. i actually made the trip to AC in hayward today to get a couple of pep shrimps. it was all for nothing cause my 4line wrasse wiped them out in about 10 min. grrr... that 4line is quite bothersome...

hey hey. just thought i'd finally become a member; anyways, been browsing here since forever. so yeah, as for an update on Aquatic Central: the downstairs had 64 tanks up and running, however, I felt that the filtration was inadequate so I shut it down for now. I'm thinking to just add a mega skimmer, ozone/controller unit and some extra plumbing for more flow (not to mention CLEAN UP, have you seen it down there :eek2: ) i've ordered my slat wall, displays, equip., and am slowly building my dry good inventory. now i just need feedback on what i should be carrying and more customers so i can fund this puppy
later

i can't wait to see the new setup! I live in westlake and I usually go to Aquatic central for all of my needs because they are closer than any other store. I have bought some great fish and coral form that store, and I hope to continue. Are you going to have a grand Reopening party?
You should throw a shin dig for all of us local reefkeeper. I know I would be there

good point; there better be a party!!! anyway, i think there will be more of a rapid, incremental change there, rather than a grand opening. maybe in a month or two though we'll just arbitrarily pick a day and call it the grand opening, and party down like only some reefers know how to do :smokin:
