I like Aquapros too. Dave is a great guy and has held fish for me until I have a chance to stop in.
Never been to Aquatic Visions. I visited his old store, Upscale Aquatics. I thought it was odd none of his coral was priced, and he pretty much acted like I didn't exist because I asked him about a fish that wasn't over $100.

I agree aquapros has great prices! I was there yesterday and he had very little left because he was cleaned out on Friday and Saturday. Great prices and nice corals!! Reef wise is hit or miss, I think he has some nice stuff but on the high side. I hate LFS that dont have prices on all they coral or fish, I have felt that at reef wise he changes his prices ( I can be wrong) but thats how I feel. I have been there one day and he says $30 I go 4 days later and he says $35 it has happened to me twice. Sorry but it has been my past experience there. Nice store and owner but I think everything should have a price.

I been to this place one time and will never go back . Walk in this place the music was so loud i could hear it in my car when i pulled up.( bet the fish love that vibrating their tanks) Walk in only because it needed to kill some time.Place look OK some fish little coral nice selection of dry good.I look around for about a half hour the guy that was there did not say anything to me .Did not say hi or can i help you nothing.I ask him how much where his vho bulbs he had in stock he said he will get me a price when he was finish doing what he was doing (feeding all his tank brine shrimp) 15 minute later i left he was still feeding the fish did not care if i left or not This is the only fish store that i know that above the sink at his bagging station near the back room but still in the showroom had a shelf with a bunch of different bottles of hard liquor and next to the sink was a nice size wine cooler fill to the max with wine and beer You think the dumb a-- would at least put that stuff in the back room where customer with their kids do not have to see it.The place smelled of cigarettes smoke lots of stuff in boxes all over the place. This was about maybe 6 months ago maybe he was just setting up his store i do not know how long he been there.but the sign outside said grand opening but i was thinking it should of said the grand closing because a place like this will never make it.

Reef Plus in North Aurora is not worth the trip. I was there about a week ago. Yes Steve is a great guy but that does not change the fact they have nothing for coral and no plans to change that.
Nice guy or not he needs to start answering his phone. Steve has gone the Scotts petshop route with the phone. I tried calling all day to find out of something was in stock but never got an answer. When I asked Steve why he said "Oh we never answer the phone. We are just too busy all the time." Too bad there was no one else in the store but me! Unfortunately they did not have what I needed so I wasted my LAST trip ever there.

Lol. Funny to see this thread resurrected! But yeah, I haven't set foot in this place for a long time. And no plans on doing so. It's AquaPros and Reefwise for me.
When Aquapro does have sps, he will have a bunch in the tub. Other times, he wont have any. Or maybe im too late. But his prices will keep you a return customer.
Reefwise is ok. I used to go there when the shop was still new and his prices and selection was good. Now it is on the high side.
So, AP for now.

Yeah, he gets in some really nice pieces at great prices. But you need to be there the day he gets it or it gets picked thru fast. Either like his facebook page to get the updates or watch the other chicagoland reef forum for his updates.

Dead serious. While his selection is nice, I think his prices are high. Everytime I have been in there, I stare at the coral hoping to see something I want and I leave empty handed. I recently won a gift certificate in a raffle and ended up giving it to another reefer for the same reason.

I agree on reefwise, great store and great stuff, but at a price. I even thought his stuff at maci was on the high side compared to others. He's more likley to have decent pieces though compared to other stores, but you aren't gonna find $10 frags either. He also has very high end fish, so it all depends on what you want.

Why does everyone talk about Reef Wise as the end all be all of the hobby? I've only been there once and was happy with the experience, but by no means did it blow me away. I have nothing negative at all to say about Reef Wise. I've noticed anyone who talks bad about the place is questioned as if there is something wrong with them.

Chicago Fish and Coral is an awesome place to go to and in my opinoin is wayyy better than Aquatica.. Aquatica is way over priced and if you buy something there you have to wait a hour just to check out because EVERYTHING must go through the owner and only he can ring anyone out..
Now on to Chicago Fish and Coral, this place has stepped everything up a notch and has became an awesome store! They have probably the best coral selection on the southside.. The prices for their coral is amazing! The best part about them is that if they dont have something they will order it for you whatever it is. The people that work there are all very nice and the owner Jeff and the other lead aquarist/Maintanance guy Jeff really know their reefing, and will answer any question you have. I have never had a problem with their products or fish.. they get new shipments on stuff every tuesday and thursday. I HIGHLY reccommend going to Chicago Fish and Coral..
