Aquatic Visions?

I heard about this store on another thread and was wondering if they sell corals or just fish? Also, do they have good quality fish? I am about 1hr+ to get there so I need to know if it's worth the ride.

Never head of them. However if you are heading over here Finz of Tampa and FAOIS (fish and other Ichthy stuff) are my top choices, well worth a peek.

I went there when I first moved down here. They have a few corals and their fish are kept in a huge system and they do a lot of shipping. Very warehouse like setting. Almost reminds me of going to a dog pound. Was not a positive experience.

They sell Fish and Corals. But don't shop there the prices are cheaper then any were else. If you only want to pay wholesale prices for fish and corals. This is not a store like your average fish store. It's a warehouse that sells to your local fish store and to reefer's who can't afford to pay strip mall prices.
Not there is anything wrong with that.

I go there all the time...at least twice a week. If not to buy...then at least to look because they have some cool/wacky stuff.

They are improving the coral setting all the time. Last time I went the corals were looking VERY good and they had several dozen to choose from. The tanks with the corals are very clean and nice. It was less than a week ago I was there. Prices are a better than other places around Pasco County by far, and quite honestly, better than any place I have seen.

THEN, they have the zillion tanks in the back where they do their shipping. It is not the prettiest of places back there. You might see 100 puffer fish, 100 sea horses, 1,000 peppermint shrimp etc...and they also have some very cool nice fish. Some days they have 10 beautiful fish; some days they have 100. I DO love their live rock for sure.

Again, it is not the prettiest of places. They are honest. Most fish stores in the area get quite of bit of merchandise from this place to sell, and many thoughout the country buy from this place. This stuff is not quarantined so you run a risk.

I do love this place and they are not perfect. What else do you want to know?

Just to let you know what I have gotten from them that I can remember right now...this is my home aquarium and school aquariums.

1. Beautiful purple/green tube anemone that is GIANT ($12) and is healthy and fine for 6 months.

2. Porcupine puffer ($4) and died with ICH in 2 weeks.

3. Yellow ball sponge size of a softball, $5, and still kicking butt and now have about 20 in the tank now....had it since March.

4. Firefish since March...$6 and fine still.

5. TONS of wormy live rock...probably 5x7 inches of zoas on one....tons of sponges and some corals...also a couple mantis (which I happen to love to have at school and a gorilla crab). Almost all are covered in MANY feather dusters, and some have nice Xmas worms.

6. 3 condy anemones ($5 each) and they are great...my tomato clown loves them

7. sea robin fish (w/e the heck he's called) was very cool for 2 weeks until he ate my cute damsel.........

8. serpent stars that were bigger than my hand at $4

9. various mushroom corals at $5 each

10. little coral banded shrimp about 1" long - $5 Now it rules a tank at 3"

hmmm...that's all I can think about. Just know going in...it's not the kind of store you find in the mall.

Thanks all, especially ladyfsu for that detailed info. Those prices look awesome so I will be taking a ride later this week.

Do they have a holding tank to see if everything is ok before they sell their stuff?

From Ladyfsu:
This stuff is not quarantined so you run a risk.

NO it is RIGHT off the boat. That's why I'm telling you you run a risk. I would suggest a quarantene (sp?) tank.

I made it to Aquatic Visions yesterday after a 2+hr ride from Bradenton and I was very impressed. It is definetly not a typical retail store but I spoke with the owner Diane and her brother who spent more time with us than any LFS I've been to.

The stock was very limited, especially fish, but they said you need to come in often as availablity changes daily. Prices on many things were cheap as they had peppermint shrimp for $1.35.

Diane had a notebook that I listed what I wanted and when it comes in she will give me a call. This place is like the local restaurant that has the best food at great prices but not alot of ambiance.

I will be going there after my tank cycle in a few weeks as they had very reasonable prices on cleanup crews. There must of been a thousand peppermint shrimp for 1.35 each when I was there. Also they got a big shipment of cucumbers in and tons of snails. Hopefully next trip we dont get lost!

you shouldn't, but when you get on congress, make a right where you see like 100 school buses parked, on Pine hill road.. all there is too it :-)
