Psyire any news on the picture of the salinity probe???

Sorry Robby, I thought you figured out yours was the same. Block Font 'EC' letters. The old probe had a Comic Sans type Font for the 'EC' letters. Plus the new probe has small EC letters and the older one was big. If you still want a picture I can get one tomorrow.

Very interesting, I think when my probes start to get old I will be looking at Pinpoint probes for replacements.

As for the probes being just "plain bad" I am not sure we can draw any conclusions yet, so far the ORP probe seems 100% good, the pH probe with updated module and good calibration fluid seems to be Good, and the Jury is still out on the Density probe.

So finally I got tired and decided to change my probe. Since I can't get Aquatronica replacement parts in my country, I decided to buy a probe of some other brand. I choosed the Hann HI 1230B which is one of their cheapest probes and the problem was solved.

Are Aquatronica pH probes just plain bad ? I never had these problems with my Pinpoint probes and I think I won't have this problem with the Hanna (that it was cheaper....).

Somebody has a similar experience ?

BTW Moneypit says the complete opposite, he said his Block one got destroyed quickly and the Script one barely had any rust on it.
 maybe he can chime in on this.

Ok, how do I get started? I have the controler, 2 power strips, pc interface, water level, temperature,ph and salinity sensors., Do I set everything at my desk and program on the computer or do I put everything where it is going and program on the unit? Also what do I have to do to get the update? Thanks for the help. Tom.

Set it up at your desk and play with it for a few days before using it on your tank. Use a Glass of Seawater and get a feeling for how to make temperature programs, salinity alarms, reading graphs etc. Also you can do your initial calibrations easier at the desk.

When you have a good idea of how everything works then do a firmware update and install the system on your tank.

Got some info from an AQT Engineer today in regards to what I thought was a Bug that caused items attached to level sensors to go OFF when you connect to the PC software.

This is not a Bug, it's the way they designed it. He explained that when the PC is connecting there is no control on your devices for that period of time, so they were left with three options

1) Leave them in the State they were in before connection
2) Turn them all ON
3)Turn them all OFF.

They chose option 3 because they felt it was safer than having something left ON. In the case of say a Dosing pump that turned ON just before you connected the PC, it might be disaster if it was left running for the period of Time while the connection is taking place, so they just turn off everything till the connection is made.

I inquired if they could make the default state changable, I am now waiting for his reply.

Is there a pdf version of the owners manual available for download online? I was unable to find mine when I sold it and the new owner could use it. Thanks.

Here is a picture of my new salinity probe which isn't showing any signs of rust yet. I have been doing the bi-weekly cleaning.

(Please note that I do unplug the probe from the unit before removing it from the water to prevent damage)

Pysire thanks for the picture, but I can't see the difference between this and the older probe? I just sent back my new probe on friday because it had the Block EC on it! Moneypit said that version was worst than the script EC version. Both of my probes were exactly the same except for the lettering, I was hoping to see how yours differed.

Strange... my old probe had the 'script' EC letters and the new one has the 'block' EC letters. I'm assuming the new one is the 'block' lettering as that is what I recieved for the replacement.

You're welcome ReefGreener, It's a good controller and if you have any questions post them here and I'm sure it won't take long to get a responce.
