My PH readings are stable, but I did notice that my salinity probe has rust on it which has me concerned. BTW I'm using a pinpiont probe.

mm i might be reading to much into this post but if you're looking for perfection either you are in the wrong hobby or you'll need to wait a few years before you find what you're looking for.

Anyway, I found something interesting. With the Pinpoint pH probe my readings are quite stable. When I plug the serial cord to the laptop I get funky readings. I still haven't calibrated after I plugged this probe, need to get more fluid tomorrow at the LFS.

I am not looking for perfection just a product that suits my needs at this time. I need 2 PH and a webserver. There is only one product that I can find that currently has both. May (or maybe sooner) is not soon enough.

I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t need all the fancy auto water changes light movers etc. I have one tank and will only ever have one. I want a controller to do the basic functions ie: turn pumps on/off, lights on/off, fans chiller heater on/off, monitor/control PH, etc. I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t want it to replace human maintenance

I truly appreciate all the questions that were answered in this whole thread while doing my research it was a great help, but in the end I decided to go with the AC. it will have more than I will probably ever need as far as options etc. and I will never need more than 2 power strips. and maybe a 4HD

and for $694.00 for the controller, 2 PH probes, 1 dc8, temp probe, (5) 7.0 cal, (5) 8.0 cal. it will do what I need it to do now, not in may.

good that you found what you were looking for. i'll keep my fingers crossed that your devices won't turn on (or turn off) at the wrong time, like mine did when I used the AC. Good luck.
 
If they do I will be on Neptune like white on rice :D for replacment and immediate support. They have a long standing here on RC and there own forum for troubles etc. No plugs here, just giving my reasons.

I looked at all the pro's and con's of each. I am a newb and may be making the worst decision but at least I tried to do my homework and got a product that appeals to me at this time. I cant look at the 'what if's' of the issues you speak of. I had to look at each one as a product working as described out of the box.

If I have just one plug fail for any reason or a timer comes on and off outside my set parm's, than trust me Neptune will hear from me! The squeeky wheel gets the grease!

I think it was the built in webserver that got me.

yes, that is what I would hate to see - you realizing 6 months from now that you should have bought the Aquatronica. When I bought my Aquacontroller the Aquatronica was not available and was unknown in the US so I didn't have much of a choice. I sold the system for a $400 loss but at least I have something I am happy with.

As far as the Aquacontroller technical support, yes they are very responsive but that not necessarily resolved the problems I had, including pH, ORP and temperature incorrect readings. At least in my case the Aquacontroller was extremely sensitive and the readings would be erratic. It says in the manual that one probe interfers with the other.

hmmm... does anyone else have rust on the aqt salinity probe? Will this cause a problem in the future? Take the probe and pull the cover off and check the two metal rings and let me know, thanks..
I have to say also that I have no problems with stability in my PH readings or salinity readings. I check them both with my Pinpiont PH and Salinity Monitors.
 
The web server is a cool feature and I will be one of the first in line to buy the module when AQT releases one.
 
The top of my wishlist is:

- fix for pH problem :D
- fix for clock x power loss problem
- Web server
- Email or SMS notification

With these 4 I'll be happy as a clam

In the "nice to have" category, I'd like

- Calcium probe
- Dimmable T5s
- History database so I can rebuild my site and plot my own charts
 
Thanks for the links to your threads, I read every one. I see most of your PH/ORP issues were actually resolved with the isolator, and a few other tricks. I can hear your frustration in a few. I think your setup is far more complicated than mine ever will be. You had the contoller running 3 pair of tanks lights. If I experience the same problems (I will know within the first week) I will be sending it back and ordering the AQT.
 
it is not much different than the Aquatronica. I do like the smileys on the upper right corner of that web page :D
 
I like the esthetics of the AQT better but I do see a wireless linksys ethernet option and the software has a cool look to it also.

If not your readings will be worthless.

BTW guys I did that Fresh Sea Water test, and the pH read 7.96
I really think that the pH probe is close to accurate now. Try my calibration method before replacing your probes.

Have they given a reason behind why there needs to be a ground probe?
By chance do the probe reading change after the serial connection is made without the ground probes?
