Aquatronica

I was a bit tempted to post on the DC8 recall but I felt that it was best not to make jokes at the competitions problems, even though they seem hell bent on putting us down. What goes around comes around! BTW Moneypit I hate to say this because you are a friend but I think Pysire is right, his post on the grounding probe is relevant to the AQT and needs to be discussed, just my 2 cents and since we all get along so well I hope there are no hard feelings.

While I fail to see the relevance of his post to the AQT I'll let it go this time if Psyire promises to stay on topic in the future.
I've got thick skin, and of course I have no hard feelings. I just think it is silly to turn into the "topic police" for one post being off topic. If we were 15 posts into the DC8 problems then a gentle reminder would be in order.
BTW where are people ordering there calibration fluid for the salinity and PH probes? I would like to order larger bottles if possible. I have a new salinity probe that needs calibration. (Thanks Will)

I just buy the Coralife pH Cal. fluid. It's 4oz. and should be available at your LFS. (or atleast mine has it)

As for the Salinity probe, I just calibrated it to my Refractometer.. which is close enough for me. Seems to be working just fine.

I have been following this thread from the start and want to know what the overall thought is on whether or not to buy the AQT probes or another brand instead?

I am not going to buy it until it has an official web server release though. I have almost clicked the buy button a couple times but I am holding out so far.

Keep the updates and posting up, we are watching and thanks!

ok guys if you don't behave i will ban ALL of you and close ALL threads with the word PROBE in it :D :D

anyway, I ordered the calibration fluids including ORP, will be delivered tomorrow so I can finally calibrate this thing.

as an update, the pinpoint probe is giving me consistent and reliable readings, but everytime i connect the serial cable to the laptop the readings jump to a crazy value. so i think i am getting close to finding the problem. Will is helping me on this.

Armando when you do the orp calibration, follow the instructions on how I did the pH. Clean the probe in fresh distilled water or probe cleaner then let it stay in the calibration fluid for at least 20-30 minutes then repeat the process again.

It would be real cool if some newbie (hint) was to take the plunge and buy probes from a different company and then let us cheap craps find out if they work  that way the next time this question comes up we will have an answer.

In other words: I wish we all knew, but no one wants to take a chance so we keep buying the AQT probes.

BTW click the buy button, you know you want to :smokin: be a man go for it :D

Dammit there goes my UFO story
BTW why do you think my Avatar carries that Light Saber.? One more word out of Money Pit or Psyire about off topic and they will find out :D :D

I actually bought a pin point PH and ORP probe to add on to my system, i'm just waiting for the interfaces. I have one Aquatronica PH probe and don't seem to have any problems with it. I'll let all of you know how the non-Aquatronica probes work out.

hehe I thought you were going to say "Psyire, I am your father!" :D

Cheap Craps and AQT don't go together. I thought all you guys just had money to burn:rollface:

I ended up a very unhappy dc8 customer (I didn't get shocked) and no longer want to be a test subject.

Here is a stupid question I have been meaning to ask hoping someone else would but here it goes. So I see all the package deals come with a temp sensor but does that include the temp/level interface or do you get a temp probe that is useless until you buy the interface?

Saw that deal on aquariumspecialty and almost went for it since the first package deal is the best but doesn't come with probes. I don't want to end up with all these odd readings you guys are talking about.

Touch your nose, PC and grounding probe at the same time and you should get steady readings:confused:

I'd buy it if I new the web server would be a plug and play style upgrade and not a completely different controller.

I'd only recommend doing this is if you want to 'test' it. I am running pH and ORP probe by a different company. (Weiss Research out of Texas) They make their own probes however you want them.

With that being said, my ORP probe seems to be working fine, but my pH probe does not. Everytime I try to calibrate it, I get an error saying 'Cannot Calibrate' or something similar.

So as a result I have both a pH and ORP probe by AQT coming to me shortly.

It plugs nicely into the powerbar, so you don't need an interface if you don't want one.

It'll definately be an upgrade, AQT is not looking to roll out a totally new controller. (or atleast there has been zero mention of this)

okay one more. it says it has an acoustic and visual alarms. is that in the controller or does it boadcast that through the PC?

I gotta tell you guys, I love this toy...

I have the AQT controller with 2 powerbars. One powerbar runs all the lights on one circut, while the other runs powerheads, light movers, and Calcium Reactor/CO2 on another circuit. I was initially surprised how heavy/sturdy the powerbars were compared to some often cited competing products (that I own).

The only issue I have with the AQT so far is that my thumb was pretty sore after renaming all the outlets - I'm still waiting for the serial PC interface to arrive.

I'm using some pretty old Pinpoint pH and ORP probes. The pH appears to be a little off. I'm getting new probes and some calibration fluid next week.

After that, I may start noticing the issues with multi layered commands... I really liked the scripting language on the Neptune's, but they limited you with a max number of lines of code. The AQT appears to be nearly limitless if w can figure out how to correctly layer the commands.
