Aquavitro Fuel

I decided to give this a try. Cant say that I have noticed any positive growth or characteristic. Are you using the recommended dose? Im starting off with half the recommended dose presently (as many recommend for this product).

your tank was probably perfect to begin with.

Ok its time... I've gone a little to far with dosing :) Though I did start to see some algae on the glass a few days and some macro algae take off growing I decide to add another 7ml to the system. Needless to say the tank now has a lot of algae on the glass which is a first in a long time. Though I didn't write don't all the doses the I believe I have dosed roughly 40-50ml in my 30g BB system over the past two weeks. I really do like this stuff just for the simple fact i couldn't get these results (adding p04/nutrients) by over feeding my fish. For some reason it would pollute the tank in a different way, hard to explain. It's as if the fish needed to eat more of the food for the corals to be feed properly. Time to do a water change and focus on the corals since starting this I stop doing my normal 4 gallon water change a week. The positive news is we have reverse a few death and the rest of the corals that were barely growing are doing great with good polyp extension colors are better as well. Hopefully other reefers with pour nutrient systems (BB systems) may try this stuff since it honestly help in my situation. Now I have a new tool if my corals are

Best,
Brad

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't Fuel just amino acids? Some of the best SPS tanks I have seen are dominated by fish, which fuel the acros through their poop. Just feed your fish, get an oversized skimmer and away you go.

Curious how well this works long term vs just fish.

Seachem makes it:

http://www.aquavitro.com/products/fuel.html

I'm dosing 4 ml / day at this point.

here is whats in it.
Description
fuelâ„¢ is a comprehensive carbohydrate, vitamin, amino acid, polyunsaturated fatty acid, and trace element supplement developed to address nutritional requirements commonly associated with corals. fuelâ„¢ contains ascorbic acid in a base of chlorella, which contains a rich assortment of amino acids and vitamins. The health benefits of chlorella are widely known and while spirulina, a similar algae, has been regularly used in the industry, aquavitro is the first to utilize the vastly superior chlorella. fuelâ„¢ is formulated to provide nutrients available from natural tropical reef waters.

Chlorella is a unique algae that grows in fresh water. It is extremely high in enzymes, vitamins and minerals, including the full vitamin-B Complex. It is over-flowing with unsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, and proteins. There are also vitamins found in Chlorella including: Vitamin C, pro-vitamin A (B-carotene), thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), pyridoxine (B6), niacin, pantothenic acid, folic acid, Vitamin B12, biotin, choline, Vitamin K, lipoic acid, and inositol. Minerals in Chlorella include: phosphorus, calcium, zinc, iodine, magnesium, iron, and copper. It contains a higher level of amino acids than spirulina and is FDA approved for use with ornamental fish.

Here's one for you. No adjustments made - it's about a month and a half difference between these 2 shots.

Damn that is better then my success LOL. Great growth! What lighting by the way? Have you went to far with dosing, meaning more algae on the glass etc.?

wow, very nice progression..... another question, what lighting are you using on those pictures?

Thanks -

I ended up over dosing it a little by like 1 ml per day (was at 5, now I'm at 4 ml per day). Not that I really think it makes that much of a difference.

The algae on the glass came about a week after I started, then I think there was an equilibrium or something because the algae kind of subsided. I clean my glass maybe twice a week.

Lighting (90 gallon standard tank) is from (2) full spectrum Reef Radiance DM-155e's with 90º optics all around. Lighting is at about 55% blue, 20% full spectrum.

All that said though, I feed a disgusting amount to the point where most folks don't believe me when I tell them. Pellets, frozen, flake, nori, oyster eggs, etc. I also run a good size skimmer (Octo Classic SSS-150) which I really like and I have a very healthy growing fuge on a reverse photoperiod.

I also do nit use RO / Di water - I only use a dual carbon filter from the faucet in the laundry room.

I also have ZERO cyano or hair algae.

Waterchanges are very minimal (2 I think since the tank's been set-up since Feb) and I only dose kalk with my ATO. Just last Friday, I started dosing Mg at 10ml / day to see where it will take me.

Did the same as you and having similar results with glass algae also my coraline algae stock growing on the bottom glass LOL. Stuff is full of nutrients.

Yeah it is. I've seen it before in the past brown stuff out pretty good so it's easy to overdo it. Just got to find the right balance which IMO takes a bottle of the stuff to figure out where that sweet spot is.

Coralline - I hate the stuff myself but as long as it stays on the rocks, I'm fine with it. I hate it when it starts growing on the glass.

Do you dose carbon at all? I'm thinking about it with dosing this stuff. I'm assuming you skimmer is pulling out some serious nasty stuff like i am running this stuff. LOL I now believe if the skimmer is pulling out stuff the tank is feed well :)

Since i don't use GAF or any other p04 removal stuff, I believe my only removal of waste would be water change. Hopefully I can fine tune.
