aquavitro salinity salt

Hmmm, a lot of the time my new water may sit more than 24 hours, but there are times it doesn't. Also, after the one talk about Brute container plastic leaching something in the water, I was wondering if I shouldn't let it sit in there. OK, I may just let it sit 24 hours then.

Tina you might want to look into getting one of the 50 gallon Food grade Barells that Brain is selling for $25 Buck's I got 2 they are really nice so nice i ordered a 3rd one

I always test every bucket before I use it the first time, and I always shake the buckets and roll them around so the salt gets mixed up before use each time.

I always suggest waiting over night but for me it was a nice routine that worked. Now if I switch to this brand of salt my routine will change and I will mix 48hrs ahead of time to make sure it's dissolved. In the end what ever makes the animals looks the best and the happiest that is what I do ;)

I am on my second bucket of Aquavitro salt. I always used Seachem reef before. I haven't experienced any mixing problems. I have a Aquaclear 840 in my mixing tub. I let it mix for at least a day and have had no problems. I haven't even had to add anything to bring the levels up. I'm happy with it.

The last 12 bucket's I've read the lable on said Mag max 1396 are you getting anywhere close to that ?
I keep mine at 1400 but can live with 1375 I don't worry to much about the Calcium level as long as it's above 400.
I'm really thinking of using it on my 360 build if it save's me money on
Mag 100 gallon's of water a week can add up to alot of Mag additive

Wow Paul, 100 gal per week change? That's a ton of salt. I guess those barrels are gonna come in handy.

that's for more than one tank lol but I figure barrels are the only way to go once my 360 is up that will make a 360 (80 gallons w/c) my son's 100 (20 gallon w/c) my 100 (20 gallon w/c) the 100's are bi weekly thou and I'm taking the 30 down not that I do very many water changes on that and I use seachem marine in that just don't need it

I've been thinking of buying this stuff next time around but I'm really happy w my seachem reef and h2o and exotic both sell it for $35/bucket so it's ended up being a bit cheaper and I get two buckets instead of one I think O street wanted $85a bucket for it when I was there buying they sickest zoa frag I've ever seen the other day but i also dose. Bionic so my parameters when I do occasionally check them in within par.. My seachem reef totally dissolves in about 10-15minutrs in my 20g I use for mixing/water changes I use a K4 in it for circulation..speaking of that I should do another water change tommorow nightbor later tonight I like to do abouta 25% wc weekly on my 40g

Gotcha!

yep good price Rob and if im not mistaken Jack over at Aquatic Depot in Roseville sells it a lil cheaper at like $32.95?? paul would know for sure on that one.. I could be wrong though... I tried to get O street to price match for me on it the other day but they wouldn't and H2o was out so i stopped by Exotic on the way home and picked up a few buckets...

Who me ?
If your talking about me Dan I really have no clue I don't buy Seachem havent since I left the Bay Area in 1999.
Aqua Life gave me a bag of Seachem Marine at the MARS meeting raffle and Jack at Aquarium Depot gave me a bag of Seachem Reef for a test I did last year but other than that I buy Reef Crystal's I get that direct I'm happy with it but adding the Mag is killing me.
maybe another Paul ?

When I used Seachem Reef I found the following prices:

JoJo's - $34
Exotic - $35 reg. $31.99 on sale at times
H2o - $34.99
Aquarium Depot -$33

Its been a few months since I've bought a bucket so prices may have changed.

Thanks Nick I think I'm headed to Sierra chemical in west Sac just buying bulk magnessium sulfate and Magnesium cloride.
Much cheaper

Ok, I think the verdict is in for me. I'm not too pleased with this salt. It has taken upwards of 48-72hrs for it to disolve, it is very dusty ( the only term I can think of) and now I just tested 30g at 1.030sg, temp 77 and the DKH is 6. I used 2 different test kits and tested 4 times and came up @ 6-6.5 everytime:(

I had much better results IMO with the Sea Chem Reef. I am going to do more testing until this bucket is gone before I make my final say.:eek1:

Rob,

What parameters (Ca, Mg, Alk) do you typical get with Sea Chem Reef? I am on my last bucket of Reef Crystal, and am considering switching over. Sea Chem Reef is a lot cheaper than Reef Crystal.
