A forum member told me they are open now and opened up last night.

We will have to check it out.

anyone been there yet????

Howe bout' Arden shopping center. I know they have a website, But I dont know the name of the store.

I went there today. Its very large. No SW stock yet, but I'd say its going to be pretty nice over the next month or so.

The tank selection is very large, but they didn't have the things I was searching for in stock yet (rowaphos, carbon).

There is a large 5000 gallon (i think) display that they are going to use as a Black Tip Shark tank, and another 300 (I think) that they are setting up as a Chiclid tank.

I spoke with the manager for a bit, he seemed cool. The owner has been doing work over in the middle east with the Red Sea, but I'm not sure what.

Cheers,

Jim

They have a 5000g tank for the black tip sharks

A 800 gallong chichlid tank

Lots of coralife lights PC & MH combo and just PC.

Lots and lots of FW stock. Little SW stock now.

Store is very large and once it's all set up its gonna be nice.

Owned is very nice, we spoke for a good 15 minutes. He ran the largest public aquarium in saudi arabi on the red sea. Thats where he is getting his BT sharks, Captive breed. They are actually his the parents had pups about 2 years ago. He left due to all the political issues there and began the process of the store. He ran the stienhart (sp) aquarium for many years.

He has been in the fish industry for a long time. His Power head pump prices are nice and competitive.

I told him that once he has his SW and coral section going, he will get alot of foot traffic from MARS.

went in there today. nice store. but i don't think they are going to be a big hit with sps. i talked with the owner and he didn't seem to into it. but may be he is just going to suprise us all when they get the sw section up and running.

I talked to him about what he was planning to carry, he said it was going to depend on what would sell the most. I said that ALOT of people are into Acro's and SPS and they will buy if you have it.

But we will have to wait and see.

Edwin, when you say "he ran the Stienhart", what exactly do you mean? The current curator has been there for a few decades now.

I believe Jonathan held a notable biologist position there, but I don't think he actually ran Steinhart.

I can understand the unwillingness to carry SPS corals. Quite a high percentage of the wild and aquacultured stuff don't hold their color. Not to mention all the nasties that come in with it. If they were to do online sales, carrying a lot of SPS would be a good idea, but around here, the 'bread and butter' are softies and LPS. So much easier and a lot less of a headache to care for:)

Just went to his site, looks like it's a nice building. Any one have any pics of the space in a finished state? I'd love to see some pics of it :)

The store isn't exactly "finished" yet - I just went today, and they told me they only opened on Tuesday. It'll be at least until the end of January (my guess) before they have all their tanks up and running, cycled, etc. It's a really big store (10,000 sq ft) and in a very busy, semi-upscale strip mall (anchor store is Nordstrom Rack).
