Arduino controlled LED Fixture

Glazner sorry I missed your post. Yes the ELN 60 48P can be controlled by this arduino. There is only one major difference, the 48P requires a 10v PWM and the arduino only puts out a 5v PWM. I will be using DIY Cat 4101 constant current drivers that only requires a 5v PWM. there are a few people that I have done this exact setup with great success using a DIY "ELN" shield. It looks to be an easy circuit to make. I think the arduino is a great tool because it can just as well be your entire reefkeeper! I hope to have mine do temp and run powerheads as well.

As for programing there are lots of people who post their sketches in the DIY thread.

The 48Ds only require a 10v DC wall wart and a potentiometer. If you want to built a LED fixture with just two knobs to simply turn the light up and down, these are perfect drivers for that.

ghellin, how hard was it to build your Arduino? I purchased some CREE 3 W LED's and the ELN-60-48P dimmable drivers. I didn't know I needed a 10v power supply and dimmer also... Now rapid LED is out of the dual dimmers... so I am stuck. Will the Arduino run the ELN-60-48P's? I assume I will still need a 10V power supply? Just would like to get this up and running ASAP. Yes it will all that you need to do is build a small circuit with a 10v wall wart, a N2222 transistor, and a potentiometer.

You got me subscribed. I've recently DIY'd my LEDs and drivers, but I'm looking for something with PWM and dimming. Do you have a schematic of the driver you're building and a BOM?

I am using the cat 4101 LED driver that is discussed in the "Who wants an easy DIY driver" thread in the DIY forums. IIRC The Bom and Eagle files for the PCB are in the thread around page 25.

It can really control anything you want it to.

What was your source of your screw shield.Also wondering how many separate fixtures are you dimming.Would like to see your script also Trying ti figure out my final setup I plan on only controlling 2 circuits blues and whites.

I purchased the screw shield from Adafruit they have lots of arduino stuff.
I will be dimming 1 fixture with 8 channels of 6 LEDs. 5 channels of RB, 2 of CW, and 1 of NW. I am using a sketch that I pulled from the DIY arduino controller thread currently, once I finish the light I will play with it and add other things.

Thanks! Nice LCD Shield! I have been side tracked as well, I am going to Florida in a few weeks but I should have things up and running by mid june. my driver board is the only thing I dont have yet but it is in the mail! :bounce:

My driver board has arrived! 8 Cat4101 constant current drivers with 4 different PWM channels. This will drive all 8 LED strings.

Each driver has its own potentiometer so all six strings can be dimmed manually as well as the digital PWM dimming.

LCD now showing LED status, time, and temp.

We have light!
Neutral Whites at 10%.

Now a string of Royal Blues.

Ok so I have been side tracked on the project with a trip to Florida, and now deciding to build a new stand and sump. Here are a few more pictures.
