are all majano bad?

I have what looks like a very large and very pretty majano anemone.
It's about 3" fully open and has split once (into three) in the 5 months I have had it.
I have the three of them in a small QT tank and have been feeding them aggressively to see if they keep multiplying.

The person I got it from originally had it 2 years in an ULNS and it never reproduced.

I am planning on QTing a year before deciding if it poses a threat to my DT.

Am I crazy to ever put it in my DT? Are they always invasively prolific? Are some species harmless?

really? I would love to move it to my DT if I can confirm it isn't a threat of over-reproduction.

What do you need from me to try to identify them?
The entire foot is a uniform tan color, slightly translucent.
The tips are round and slightly bulbous, and bright green.
They are photosynthetic for sure, though they eat readily.

I have this exact same nem, I don't think it's the more common majano which I do have in 1 spot in my tank. Yes they can spread, but when 1 pops up somewhere else in my talk I us kalk to get rid of it. the are quit a colorful little nem. and I like them so they have a place in my tank, but only one place LOL

I'm pretty sure I've seen something similar up for sale before in an LPS/softie tank. But since I often just skip those tanks by, I don't really know. I'm sorry.

Keep taking photos and maybe ask around the softy forum?

I have had plague anemone problems twice in my reefing career. The first time they were the more traditional looking 'majano', a small, brown anemone with bulbous tips. Became a HUGE problem and I had to buy an Asfur angel to eat them all (then it ate all my zooanthids). The second time, they were slightly larger and looked almost exactly like the ones pictured in this thread. They didn't multiply at fast, but they did multiply to the point where I felt it necessary to eradicate them. Whether they are 'majanos' or not, I'd not encourage their growth frankly.

FWIW, I have almost always had aptasia in my tanks, but never had them reach plague proportions - not really sure why.

Nice pest anemone's! They look majano's to me, but 3" is pretty big for one of those, so I'm not really sure. I know they aren't loved much, but I'm planning on a little 5 gallon for a nephew for Christmas, and a pest anemone that's hard to kill sounds perfect! I know of a breakdown that's got a few different colors of those pests. Flip side, definitely something I would NOT want in a DT. I'd think twice about adding one of those to a DT, until you're sure it's not one.
