hello,

i'm plotting ahead for stocking ideas on my 60g nem cube, and thought about adding a couple of angels.

would angel fish pick at an anemone? i know that they are not particularly reef safe, but i believe that is as far as coral go. what about nems?

experience? thoughts?

What kind of angels are you planning on having? Dwarf angelfish need a tank at the very least your size so I don't think you could put more than one in your tank.

yes, i am aware of the size requirements for angels. i was thinking about some of the dwarfs such as lemon peel, potters, flame, ect...

Dwarf angels have a much harder time doing real damage to a anemone. The larger angels mouths work in more of a ripping motion and cause significantly more damage to unhealthy corals.

Agree with everyone here, a dwarf angel would be fine and they don't touch anemone, as least mine never did. Just a warning ALL dwarf angels are very territorial, lemon peel, flame, and african pygmy and flame back are particularly mean. so you must add them last, and in a 60 I would not dare two.

You can do it, just add the angels at the same time, and get them small. After the initial chasing, they SHOULD settle down.
As far as the nem is concerned, if a clown is hosting, they won't go near it. In my experiences, never had angels mess w the nems either way.

At one time I had 6 dwarf angels in my 150, and none of them ever messed with the BTA. That's more of a butterfly/large angel thing. But it never hurts to hire a couple of bodyguards i.e. pair of clowns. ;)

I got a pair of Flame Angels in my 65. They are great in pairs. I have a Gigantea, two small BTA (clones) and a H. malu. The angels do not bother any of the anemones. I am just worry one of these day my Gigantea will catch and eat the angels. I already lost a healthy Yellow tang to the anemone.

Years ago, I had a Lemonpeel that would pick on an S. haddoni, that had been established first. Sold the angel and the anemone made a full recovery.

I always had luck with Flame, Cherub and Flameback angels in the reeftank. Not so much with the other small angel species
