Are fiddler crabs good food?

I ask because there is a place on the gulf coast of Florida that I go to now and then where I can catch them by the buckets. Not sure how they'd do underwater since they're all on the shore, at the edge of the water. If they're not particularly good for a mantis then I won't even bother.

I buy my mantis fiddler crabs all the time. He beats the crap out of them.

This might sound bad but I thought it was illegal to take crabs from the ocean? I could be wrong though.

(In Florida) you can only take a claw from a stone crab and there are size restrictions on blue crab. But fiddler crabs... pretty sure there are no restrictions on them.
