Are LED thunderstorms bad for my fish?

Just got my AI sol blues installed and I absolutely love them so far. The controller is sweet and has a lot of awesome features. The only concern I have is I like the thunderstorms for my personal benefit but I am worried it will bother my fish.

Any one have experience or reason to believe the flashing lights will bother the fish?

i think it will stress them out more than anything. imagine random strobe lights going off as you walked around your house. i think it would really screw with your head. its a cool party feature but i would keep it to a minimum.

I don't see why there should be concern. It happens in nature. And I would already think that you woildnt do it all the time

I turn thunderstorms off because it messes up the rampups. If you're in the middle of a rampup from 10% to 50% and your rampup is 120 mins.. Now a thunderstorm starts, the min it goes off, your rampup is assumed to be max intensity of the timer... bad bug..

Thanks for the replys. I think for the first week or two I will leave the thunderstorms on and just monitor the fish to see if they seem stressed. I am just curious what other users are doing. Thunderstorms or not.

125, that is a pretty bad bug! have you opened a support ticket with AI on it yet?

I've been meaning to but have not had the time. Basically, anything you mess around with the settings and then exit, the rampups are forgotten. For example, if you're in the middle of timer #3 and you decide you want to tweak timer #6 or go to manual mode.. When you exit back out, the rampup period is forgotten and you're at the peak of timer #3. It seems there is no saved state.

In nature whenever there is a thunderstorm, a whole team from woods hole runs out to hang metal halides over the reef. Thus preventing any stress to the fish.

I have vertex (no bad bugs here doesnt effect ramp times) but dont use the lightning feature, but do use the cloud feature, in nature there are warnings that lightning usually associated with a storm is coming like barometric pressure drops and fish take the appropriate action and go into hiding. i feel that storms on lights are nothing more than a cool party trick, or to freak out friends when watching a scary movie in the dark

Yeah. it is the fun trick unique wow factor that is the reason i want to do thunderstorms. Just wanted to here other peoples thoughts if it was negatively affecting the fish.

Since someone said something about the barometer. I wonder if its better to do them when it actually is stormy outside. Would be neat to match the weather inside to outside.

Yes, This would be absolutely the best thing ever. If somehow there was a way to automate that so every time there is a storm outside i get one in my tank.

it would probably make more sense to the fish if they actually felt the thunder to coincide with the lightning..

y'all should really call them lightning storms.. not thunderstorms..

Yes, I pass on thunderstorms but do use clouds since there is potential value to the reef. But I do everything with Profilux.
