I Have read a few threads on this forum and others and may I say by some reputable posters on this forum, that misbar black ocellaris are the result of poor rearing by the breeder and not a genetic issue,
I am a little annoyed if this is true as I have just paid alot of money for a pair that virtually have no middle bar and was under the assumption that they were "special"
they are definately tank raised as they have so far done the classic swimming up against the glass and ignore the maginfica trick:(
I do like them but am just dissapointed if their colouration is a result of malnutriton.

For the most part, mismarked clowns are the result of less than perfect conditions during grow out. Exactly what was less than perfect may be up for discussion. I found that if I was really good about keeping my water clean, especially early on, I could eliminate almost all the misbars. I didn't find it associated with food quality as far as I could tell.

Thanks, in your experience Phender,

Are they just as likely to grow to adult size? and be as vigorous? and would their potential offspring be capable of producing full barred given the correct water parameters?
