Are pipefish jumpers?

Can pipefish be kept in opentop rimless tanks?
Specificly the yellow multibanded pipefish.

I never had a problem with my banded jumping, but that doesn't mean it never happens. Based on the last persons comment, it couldn't hurt to put a top on the tank to avoid it happening.

Agreed pipes can and will jump.

Why would anyone want to eat a atlantic lionfish??????????

It's one way of dealing with the fact that lionfish aren't indigenous to the Atlantic, and are breeding and having an impact on native species. However, being just a BIT of a lionfish nut (my wife, seahorsedreams and I own LionfishLair.com) I think they should be caught and sold for the aquarium trade...

They also apparently taste pretty good. They are destroying the Carribbian so anything we can do to eradicate them is a good thing. Making a market for them allows humans to do what we do best, wipe things out for a profit. Food the aquarium trade whatever works. The trade isnt near as destructive as Snorkel Bob would have people believe and therefore wouldnt be as effective.

This thread has derailed.

They dont seem like fast fish but they can clear a good 6" up and out of the tank or have in my experience. I have had local wildcaughts jump more than(I forgot pacific ones were mostly wildcaughts too) store bought ones.

Sorry for derailment, someone asked a question about my sig.

No problem.
I have a friend in the Bahamas that caught one several years ago, when it was only a internet rumor that they were actually there.

My plan was to keep a single yellow banded pipe in my rimless 50.
Originally I wanted a dragonfaced pipe, untill I saw the yellow banded pipes.
Maybe I should go back to the DFP.

Dragon faces are much harder to get eating frozen. Flag tails are a better choice for a 50 gallon, probably.
