Are Slimer's killers?

Id take a pic but I have poor quality photo equip. I have a blue slimer that has grown to within a half or quarter of an inch from a tennis ball sized pocilipora or stylopora(cant remember which) and on the side of the slimer, tissue has quickly died and is rapidly dieing. On close inspection I cannot see any preditors and all other sps's and lps's and frags look fine(93 total). Its too late Im sure to save it because in a mater of hours I can see more skeleton. Im going to have to break off a frag to try and save it. My question is, can slimers kill pociliporas and stylo's, all info Ive researched says they are "peaceful", but I cannot pinpoint any other cause?

slimers pack a punch, and could very easily be doing that damage.

(if still applicable) you need to cut back the dying coral, cut it back well into the healthy tissue to get it to stop. The recession should stop though if you do this. I have seen similar things from both slimers and hydnophora as far as one burn/incident of warfare the weaker coral wanting to keep receding from the point of contact/burn

then prune back that slimers branch so it isnt so close

reading your post a little closer, Im not so sure

If that entire coral is starting to rtn all over it, now that doesnt sound very likely as a result of a little bit of warfare. While I have seen instances where if no action was taken the end result could be total death, it doesnt just overtake the entire coral like that usually. It starts at the point of contact and spreads from there

how big is the stylo/poci??
